Update: More than 60 people have been Safely Rescued from The Wheel in Icon Park

Last night multiple people were trapped on the Wheel at Icon Park after an electrical fire started near the base of the attraction.

Guests were stuck on the 400-foot tall wheel at ICON Park in Orlando for hours after the ride lost power on New Year’s Eve.

A video was posted to Twitter around 8 pm.

OC Fire Rescue was dispatched immediately to rescue trapped guests from the huge ferris wheel.

“The Wheel lost power Saturday night and we’re working with the Orange County Fire Department to safely evacuate guests,” ICON Park wrote in a statement.

With the power out the Orange County, Fire Department was forced to use cranes and ladders to rescue the guests from the pods.

No injuries were reported as more than 60 people were safely rescued from more than 20 pods.

According to a final post just before 11 pm, all pods are now empty and units have cleared @iconparkorlando. All rescue climbers on duty responded to the scene, with additional off-duty rescue climbers also responding to assist if needed.

There is no official word yet on what caused The Wheel at Icon Park to lose power.
