Universal Orlando Reports Record Earnings in first quarter of 2022!

Visitors are returning to Orlando and Universal Orlando’s first quarter records for 2022 show it! Universal’s theme parks overall posted a nearly 152% increase in revenue and an adjusted earnings of $451 million for the three month period.

Comcast, Universal’s parent company, says Universal Orlando in particular is breaking records.

“We continue to see exceptional demand at our domestic parks. Attendance was back at pre-pandemic levels, and we had strong growth in per capita with Orlando generating its highest EBITDA on record for the first quarter,” said Comcast Chief Financial Officer Michael Cavanagh. EBITDA is earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization.

Passholder Appreciation

Most of the guests visiting Universal Orlando are domestic travelers while the international travelers are still about half of what they were pre-pandemic.

“Our theme parks are performing great and with that, international visitation at our domestic parks is less than half of what it would normally be this time of the year,” Comcast CEO Brian Roberts said. “Our bookings going forward, looking at the summer, are at historic high levels.”

Universal also continued with construction and developments during the pandemic. The Orlando park added Jurassic World VelociCoaster and work on the new Epic Universe has started. That park is set to open in about three years.

Visitors are returning to Universal Orlando and that won’t slow down any time soon!
