Universal Kids Resort Responds to Guest Feedback About Summer Shade

Universal Kids Resort is already looking at ways to improve the guest experience after some families shared concerns about limited shade during the park’s first week of operation.

As temperatures continue soaring across North Texas, several guests took to social media to say that spending a full day in the park can be challenging under the summer sun. The concerns come as heat index values have regularly climbed into the triple digits since the park officially opened on July 1.

In response, Universal Kids Resort released a statement confirming that additional shade and landscaping improvements are already part of the plan.

“We are always listening to guest feedback and will continue enhancing the park experience over time, adding landscaping and additional shade elements throughout the resort. Universal Kids Resort features a variety of offerings including outdoor attractions and indoor experiences, as well as multiple splash pads and play areas, restaurants, shows and merchandise locations.”

The park also pointed out that families already have several ways to beat the heat, including indoor attractions, air-conditioned shows, restaurants, shopping locations, and splash pads designed specifically for younger guests.

Having visited Universal Kids Resort ourselves during previews, we noticed the same issue. While the park offers plenty of indoor spaces and water play areas to cool off, there are stretches of walkways and queue areas where additional shade would certainly make a difference, especially during the hottest part of the day. Fortunately, this is the type of enhancement many new theme parks continue making after opening as landscaping matures and guest feedback helps guide future improvements.

If you’re planning a summer visit, it’s still a good idea to pack sunscreen, stay hydrated, and schedule indoor attractions or splash pad breaks during the afternoon heat.
