According to Reuters, the U.S. Travel Association is urging the White House to lift COVID-19 travel restrictions and repeal the mask mandate on airplanes.
In a letter the group sent to the White House it called for an immediate end to the pre-departure testing requirement for all fully vaccinated inbound international persons and ending the mask mandate by April 18. If that didn’t happen, the group requested “a plan and timeline to repeal the federal mask mandate within the subsequent 90 days.”

The Travel Association also wants the CDC to end “avoid travel” advisories for all vaccinated individuals. There are currently 120 countries and territories the CDC recommends not traveling to. The group is also urging the White House to avoid the future “use of travel bans from specific countries.”
The group also wants the White House to “develop benchmarks and timelines for a pathway to the new normal that repeals pandemic-focused travel restrictions” by June 1, 2022. Last week the CDC announced that 99.5% of the U.S. population lived in an area where masks are no longer required.

The current mask requirement for airplanes and other transportation has been extended through April 18. There have been significant issues with travelers on airplanes due to the mask requirement.
