Tropical Storm Nicole becomes a Hurricane While Florida Governor DeSantis Expands State of Emergency
Tropical Storm Nicole has just become a Hurricane according to the National Hurricane Center.
Recent observations from an NOAA Hurricane Hunter aircraft indicate that Nicole has strengthened into a hurricane. The maximum winds are estimated to be 75 mph (120 km/h) with higher gusts.
Both Disney World & Universal Orlando have closed as Florida braces for Hurricane Nicole. Also closing today was the Orlando Internation Airport.
Guests staying in the area will need to hunker down as Hurricane Nicole is expected to make landfall in Florida early Thursday.
Earlier today Governor DeSantis expanded the State of Emergency to Include 11 more counties to a total of 34 in the State of Florida.
Florida has 16,000 linemen staged, 600 guardsmen activated, and 7 Urban Search and Rescue teams on standby to deploy.
The Theme Parks in Central Florida will likely not reopen at their regularly scheduled time tomorrow, November 10th.
