We recently got a chance to play around with Disney Learning’s new app for Ipad and Iphones, Toy Story: Story Theater and I have to say my kids loved it !
The whole concept of the game is creating new adventures with different Toy Story characters and recording your own voice to bring the whole thing to life.
The kids get to start with Buzz, Woody, Jessie, or the gang. Then using simple puppet theater tools you can move around and resize the characters on any number of backgrounds.
The more you play the more you “unlock” new backgrounds
As the story moves along you can choose different props, different problems they have to overcome and different backgrounds. Once you add in your sound effects, songs or sayings it brings the whole story new level.
My kids sang a song as Jessie by a campfire, made Buzz blow up a tornado by saying boom, boom with dynamite and roared as Rex in Al’s Toy Barn. It has lots of different scenarios. Then you can “save” your movie and hold in your library to watch over again and again.
All in all its a really cute product. I love the old style puppet theater feel to it, it’s very user friendly (both the 3 year old and 6 year old had no problems moving through it), and it has a good variety of stories to it.
The kids loved being able to save the stories and bring them to me when they were done to show me the “movie” they made.
And since it from Disney Learning you know there is some education in there as well.
