It seems as if options for dining at Walt Disney World with children are easy to come by. Just about every Disney park, resort, and even Downtown Disney has kid friendly restaurants. You know the ones I’m talking about. O’hana, 1900 Park Fare, Crystal Palace, Tusker House, Chef Mickey’s….and the list can go on and on. But what if you are traveling without children? What if you have taken advantage of the resort childcare service and you’re enjoying a night out with your loved one? You need to eat, right? So, why not check out these Top Ten Places at Walt Disney World to Dine Without Children!
- California Grill. The newly reimagined California Grille is located at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. The private elevator ride will take you to the 15th floor, where you will enjoy a Pacific coast inspired menu. Steaks, braised pork, sushi, and seafood are some of the fabulous offering on the menu at the California Grill. The view of Cinderella’s Castle from here is stellar. Enjoy the Wishes Nighttime Spectacular as you sip wine and enjoy dessert, all while listening to the soundtrack from Wishes and looking out over the Magic Kingdom. Awesome!
- Narcoosee’s. Narcoosee’s is located at the Grand Floridian Resort and Day Spa. It is outside the main building, and overlooks Bay Lake. Narcoosee’s is a contemporary, modern restaurant with an amazing menu. If you time it right, you can ask for a window seat and enjoy the views of the Electric Water Pageant. They serve fabulous steaks and seafood-the lobster is particularly good! If you disembark from the boat at the Grand Floridian, and smell something delicious-it’s Narcoosee’s! After dinner, take a short walk down the path toward Bay Lake and enjoy Wishes from the boat dock.
- Fulton’s Crab House. The big riverboat at Downtown Disney is Fulton’s Crab House. And, dining at Fulton’s will give you excellent seafood and a fun atmosphere! With the menu being slightly pricey, this makes an enjoyable evening for a special occasion. Plus, there are over 2,000 bottles of wine in the cellar, meaning you’ll find something fabulous to enjoy with your amazing seafood entree.
- Jiko-The Cooking Place. Jiko-the Cooking Place is at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. The chef prepares something special everyday. Do you want a taste? Just ask, and he’ll see that you get one. You can enjoy your dinner while enjoying the atmosphere of an open kitchen. There is something for everyone here. Picky eaters will find something they will enjoy, and some African specialties will delight those who are a little more daring. After dinner, Animal Kingdom Lodge makes a nice atmosphere to enjoy a walk.
- Victoria and Albert’s. Located at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Day Spa, Victoria and Albert’s is a fabulous restaurant for a romantic evening or a special date night. The dress code is very strict, and the atmosphere is perfect. No jeans, shorts, or capris for the ladies. Gentlemen need to be sure to wear a sport coat, as well as nice slacks for dinner.
- Citricos. Another one for Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Day Spa! Citricos serves Mediterranean style dishes in an eclectic atmosphere. The epic wine list allows for some nice “adult only” time while savoring braised veal, sauteed shrimp, and more. With a slightly more relaxed dress code here, Citricos is a nice alternative to Victoria and Albert’s.
- Hollywood Brown Derby. Hollywood Brown Derby is at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Tucked away to the right, just before you get to the Sorcerer’s Hat, you’ll find a gem of a restaurant. The glitz and glamor of Hollywood is present in this restaurant. I think this is a nice, casual place to eat without children. The menu consists of filet, salads, crab spring rolls, American bison, and so much more! This is also part of the Fantasmic Dinner Package if you are on the Disney Dining Plan.
- Kouzzina by Cat Cora. Kouzzina by Cat Cora is at Disney’s Boardwalk. Why did I suggest this as a place to dine without children? Well, the atmosphere of the Boardwalk is amazing, especially at night. Kouzzina by Cat Cora lends itself to a more casual atmosphere, but the menu is fabulous! Oak grilled steak, pork tenderloin, Greek beers, and Coranation’s wines are wonderful “adult” friendly foods in a casual ambiance. After dinner, walk the Boardwalk area and enjoy the lights and street performers.
- Flying Fish Cafe. Also located along Disney’s Boardwalk area, the Flying Fish Cafe is a Signature Dining Experience. Funhouse mirrors and roller coaster tracks decorate the inside of the Flying Fish Cafe. Amongst this fun, yet classy decor, you can enjoy fresh foods from the onstage kitchen. Red snapper, crab cakes, and strip steak adorn the menu here. You can also choose from a 5-course prix fixe menu and enjoy that while interacting one on one with a chef during wine tasting.
- La Hacienda de San Angel. La Hacienda de San Angel is nestled in the Mexican pavilion at EPCOT. The large windows overlook the 7 Seas Lagoon, giving fabulous views of Illuminations! The authentic Mexican food here is as colorful as the margaritas that are served. Fresh salsa, build your own tacos, and a mixed grille including New York strip steak will go excellent with the margaritas and tequilas they offer.
So, there you have it! An “adult only” list of the Top Ten Dining Locations for Adults at Walt Disney World. Do you have any to add? Keep in mind, that these aren’t “exclusively” adult restaurants. There may be children and families at these locations as well. Have you spent a special evening at any of these? How was it?
