The cast for the new ‘Muppets’ film just keeps getting better and better. Back in December we learned that both Ricky Gervais and Ty Burell were both set to star as two of the three leads in the film, with Gervais being the main character, and Burell playing a “lazy Interpol agent”, but with nothing else known about either character at this time. Now we’ve learned who the final of the three characters in the film will be, and it’ll be no other than Tina Fey, of ‘Saturday Night Live’ and ’30 Rock’ fame. Fey is said to be playing a Russian prison guard in the film, so it’s easy to assume that she and Ty Burell will probably working together in the film. The film is said to follow the Muppets, and Gervais, on a European caper, but that’s all we know at this time. It’s also been revealed that the current working title for the film is ‘The Muppets…Again’, but there’s a good chance that won’t be the final title of the film.
I’m a huge fan of Tina Fey, and I still consider her one of the main players in the history of ‘Saturday Night LIve’, and with ’30 Rock’ ending this year, I was afraid I was going to be going through some sort of Tin Fey withdrawal, but I’m glad to see she’s managed to pick up a pretty big role in a new major film. She’s absolutely hilarious to watch, and I think she’ll make a fine addition to the already exciting cast. So with those major three characters finally cast, ‘The Muppets…Again’ will begin shooting this month in London. The film doesn’t have a release date at this time, but I think it’s safe to assume we’ll see it in 2014. ‘The Muppets…Again’ is being directed by the first film’s director James Bobin, with a script written by Bobin and Nicholas Stoller, and with Bret McKenzie returning to write songs for the film.
I’m so excited to see ‘The Muppets…Again’, it’s currently one of my most anticipated films of the next few years, and featuring three of my favorite comedic actors taking the main roles makes it that much better. The first film was a great return for the characters, so I hope the second one lives up to it. But with Bobin and Stoller coming back, and the talent they’ve acquired so far, I have no doubts that it will be. Are you excited to see ‘The Muppets…Again’?
