The Tiki Hat Box Ghost Mug, now appearing at Walt Disney World Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto, has fans heading over to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort this week. The fact that the Hat Box Ghost is only hitch-hiking his way through the Disneyland Haunted Mansion does not make him any less popular at the Walt Disney World Resort. On the contrary, this is likely what makes him even more sought after in central Florida.
Debuting on October 9th, this first edition, limited quantity mug has created long lines for folks looking to get their hands on one of these adorably spooky souvenirs. You have to show up outside of Trader Sam’s around 1:00 pm to pick up a wristband; while supplies last of course. Return to either the terrace bar at 3:30 pm, or inside Trader Sam’s at 4:00 pm, with your wristband.
Cost of the Tiki Hat Box Ghost Mug is $31.95 and comes with one of two drink options. If you like a bit of alcohol in your beverage then you have to have the Grim Grinning Nog. Featuring Gosling’s Black Seal Rum, a combination of citrus juices and some other tempting additions, you are sure to find yourself dying for a second one! Not into alcoholic libations? No problem. Your second option is the Foolish Mortal a.k.a. Sam’s No Booze Holiday Brew.
The back of the Tiki Hat Box Ghost Mug hosts the words Memento Mori, Latin for ‘remember you must die,’ and the name assigned to the Haunted Mansion gift shop. The numbers 1702 at the bottom have us intrigued. That year symbolizes the death of a Dutch Memento Mori Painter by the name of Vincent Laurensz van der Vinne. But is that Disney’s intent or does 1702 have a very different meaning? One thing is for sure; Disney is well-known for keeping us guessing!
