The Walt Disney Marathon Weekend Miles of Memories

Say ch’EARS as The 2019 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend presented by Cigna has come to an end. It’s the most magical race weekend around. runDisney and the runners have generously raised more than $98,000 for the charity The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Each year participants dress up in their favorite characters. This year was fantastic and didn’t let us down! Let’s recap some of the best highlights from the weekend:

The Walt Disney Marathon Weekend Miles of Memories

The weekend opened with the Walt Disney World 5k. Each year, each event showcases a specific Disney character. This year the 5k  featured Oswald the Lucky Rabbit for the first time ever! Participants not only ran, but hopped along the fantastic course for 3.1 miles!

Minnie Mouse is the hostess of the Walt Disney World 10k each year. Some participants rocked their dots just like Minnie Mouse, while others celebrated their other favorite classic, and new, Disney characters.

The third event is the Walt Disney World Half Marathon. Donald Duck would argue this is the “#1” race, since he’s the host! Runners enjoyed all the spectacular photo opportunities along the 13.1 mile course.
