Disneyland may be closed right now, but the lamp in Walt’s apartment above the Fire Department is still glowing! The story behind the lamp is that Walt would turn the lamp on to let cast members know that he was in the park. After he passed, the lamp was kept on to represent his spirit watching over Disneyland.
The lamp glows as a source of inspiration to cast members and guests and as a remembrance of Walt and his dream. Even with the parks closed during this uncertain time, the lamp still shines. It gives me a sense of hope that all will be well again.
I look forward to the day when Disneyland will reopen and families can make happy memories there once again! The president of the Disneyland Resort shared the photo of the lamp on Instagram. You can see her post below:

Inside Walt Disney’s apartment overlooking Town Square at Disneyland, a light has shone through the window above the firehouse for decades. It glows as a source of inspiration to our cast and our guests as a remembrance of the man who once looked out that window to the sights of happy families making memories below. Today, even in a world filled with so much uncertainty, that light still shines, bright as ever. I’m looking forward to the day when families can make memories once again. #disneycastlife #disneymagicmoments
