'The Falcon and the Winter Soldier' Disney+ Series Resumed Filming in Atlanta

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier‘ Disney+ Series Resumed Filming in Atlanta. New Marvel and Disney+ Original Series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was so close to finishing filming before the COVID-19 outbreak and reportedly a storyline within the series too closely resembled the actual pandemic. Due to fears from the studios about how audiences would react to the intended storyline, a series of reshoots was ordered by Marvel Studios for the series, as well as completion for the unfinished scenes before set closures.

It is currently unknown when The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will premiere on Disney+ since closures have delayed month of filming and editing, but it seems Marvel has resumed filming in Atlanta, GA. A video surfaced on Twitter, via user Stanrico Lawson (@Mrplatinumtouch), that features an armored NYPD vehicle on an apparent film set for the upcoming Marvel series.

Series and Marvel Star, Sebastian Stan, shared previously, “It felt like both. In a lot of ways, it felt like a movie. What I loved about it was that, tonally, it was very much in the same world that Captain America: The Winter Soldier was, which was one of my favorite experiences that I’ve ever had, period,” Stan explained. “So, in a sense, it was grounded and very much in the world as we know it. But, it’s also really jam-packed with a lot of massive, massive action scenes mixed with deep focus on character. These characters are getting so much more mileage for all of us to explore them. We can put them in situations that we’ve never been able to put them in before because you now have six hours as opposed to two.”

The series has seen several set backs since filming began in November 2019 including: unscheduled reshoots, scrapped production in Puerto Rico after devastating earthquakes, and now delays in production due to the coronavirus outbreak worldwide. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was expected to premiere on Disney+ in August 2020, but that time has obviously come and gone, and we have yet to hear of a new release date for the series.

“Following the events of “Avengers: Endgame,” Sam Wilson/Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) team up in a global adventure that tests their abilities—and their patience—in Marvel Studios’ “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.” The all-new series is directed by Kari Skogland; Malcolm Spellman is the head writer. Debuts on Disney+ August 2020.”
