Summer always brings some fun new treats to Disney, as you might have seen all the new specialty icecreams lately. In addition to those Disney is stepping up their game with some fun new treats and eat for a variety of diets. From Epcot to All-Star Music with a plant-based treat and new bites all over Disney Springs you will be sure to find something new and tasty to try.
Epcot is celebrating its grand opening of Takumi-Tei the new upscale dining option in Japan. Also over in Epcot The Coral Reef Restaurant is sure to delight with its new menu additions. How about a Lobster Seafood Boil! I cannot think of summer without thinking of having a boil being from New England and all. The Shrimp, mussels, Jonah crab claws, Andouille sausage, corn, potatoes, and of course, the lobster, all covered in butter and seasoned broth is the quintessential summertime feast. If that doesn’t entice you enough they also have a new pound worth of Maryland-style Snow Crab legs accompanied by butter and lemon. Or perhaps the new Swordfish dish with a warm white bean arugula salad with roasted Cipollini onions and topped with a lemon-herb vinaigrette might be more to your liking. Make sure you save room for dessert with the new seasonal offering, the shortbread cookie cheesecake with a fruit compote. If you intend to dine at one of these locations it would be best to make a reservation ahead of time.
Disney Springs is welcoming some new eats and treats as well, with the newest food carts; the Sunshine Churro Carts which will be popping up later on this month. These gourmet churros come in a wide variety of flavors. Everything from salted caramel, strawberry cheesecake, cookies and cream, watermelon, fruity cereal churros, to chocolate-dipped or even chocolate hazelnut dipped churros.
If you are looking for more savory food options there is a new pepperoni pizza burger at D-Luxe Burger, yes you read that right. If you love pizza and burgers it is the perfect pairing for you. With fried mozzarella covered in Pomodoro sauce, and pepperonis on top of a big juicy burger! For those that want something sweet and salty head over to Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar for the “Temple of Bacon”, it is thick-cut applewood smoked bacon hand-dipped in a milk chocolate ganache with chipotle that is made at the Ganachery.
Also, a new addition to Disney Springs that is sure to be a hit is the new “Cookie Dough and Everything Sweet” food truck! The menu of edible cookie dough includes,
- “Springs Candy Taco – Candy Monster Cookie Dough, chocolate sauce, whipped cream, sprinkles, and a cherry served in a waffle taco
- Minnie Mouse Taco – Peanut Butter Fluff Cookie Dough, caramel sauce, whipped cream, a cherry, and a chocolate Minnie bow served in a waffle taco
- Celebration Parfait – Celebration Cookie Dough with Celebration Mickey cake, vanilla custard, strawberries, whipped cream, and a cherry
- Mickey or Minnie Funnel Cake – funnel cake topped with powdered sugar and Mickey or Minnie-shaped cookie dough
- Cookie Dough Cup or Cone – Flavors include Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter Fluff, Celebration, Cookies and Cream, Candy Monster, and Cold Brew”(-Disney Parks)
I don’t know how I’m only going to pick one! Ok ok celebration parfait!! You will be able to find these by the end of the month over by the other food trucks on the West Side of Disney Springs.
Earl of Sandwich, always a fan favorite has added new cheesesteaks! You can pick from steak, grilled chicken, or veggie options. All are topped with sauteed mushrooms, onions and peppers, and provolone cheese on artisan bread. Yum!
Last but not least over at Disney’s All-Star Music Resort at Intermission Food Court there are two new selections. First a plant-based option, a Sweet Thai Coconut Mickey Onigiri. It is a great variation from the usual treats. Sticky Coconut rice is shaped like Mickey with poppy seed and it is stuffed with a fruity combo of mandarins, mangos, carrots, and apples. This nori wrapped treat comes with a sweet and sour dipping sauce. Also on a bit of a sweet and sour note is the New Hades cupcake with a blue sour candy buttercream, chocolate Hades and inside you might find some fiery orange sprinkles to sweeten the deal. This cupcake will be around for the month of August if it is tempting to you.
