Sweet and Savory Victories for Tampa Based Wine and Dine Marathon Winners

Over the course of this weekend Runners from all over the world have come to Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, FL, to participate in the Wine and Dine Marathon presented by MISFIT. Race Winners, Tyler Wasieleski and Megan Curham, had triumphant victories and share ties to the city of Tampa, FL.

Tyler Wasieleski was raised in Tampa, FL and now resides in Union City, CA. Nearly setting a race record with his impressive run time of 1:11:48, just one second off the current race record. Tyler was so far ahead of the nearly 14,000 other racers he slowed down for a stretch and still managed to finish the Wine and Dine Half Marathon almost a minute ahead of runner up, Samuel Fazioli of Salem, NH, (1:12:34), and more than seven minutes ahead of third place runner, Roger Hildago of Auburndale, FL (1:19:00).

“I had about a 30-second gap (over Fazioli), so it was tough trying to keep my same pace,’’ Wasieleski, who recently changed his last name to Watson, said. “I think I slowed down a little bit (the last few miles).’’

Megan Curham grew up in New Jersey, but now resides in Tampa, FL. Curham’s goal was to prepare herself and test her endurance in anticipation for the Dopey Challenge (running the 5K, 10K, half marathon, and full marathon) during the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend coming in January 2019. We are confident that she is ready after winning the 10K race with a run time of 1:19:59, nearly a 10 minute lead on second place runner, Amanda Beal of Ellicott, MD (1:29:09) and third place runner, Valery Perry of Ovieda, FL (1:29:26).

Racers along with their friends and family enjoyed the weekends events at Walt Disney World Resort. The Wine and Dine Half Marathon is inspired by the Food and Wine Festival taking place at Epcot from August 30-November 12, 2018. Runners can look forward to the next runDisney event, Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, presented by Cigna, scheduled to take place January 9-13, 2019.
