If you are heading to Disney’s Hollywood Studios soon, you will notice a major change in the center of the park: Echo Lake is currently drained!

The lake—which is situated right between the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-along Celebration, and the 50’s Prime Time Cafe—has been almost completely emptied so that refurbishment work can take place.

Currently, green fencing has been set up around the area featuring an image of the Chinese Theater and a sign that reads: “Pardon our appearance. Keeping our city beautiful. Echo Lake is being refurbished for your future enjoyment.”

At this time, Disney has not announced exactly what kind of work is being done in the lake or how long the draining will last.

Fortunately for guests looking to grab a quick snack, both the Dockside Diner (which sits right on the water) and Dinosaur Gertie’s Ice Cream of Extinction are remaining open and operating normally during the project. Speaking of Gertie, the iconic life-size dinosaur recently had her own bout of maintenance earlier this year when her tail broke off and had to be repaired!

We will keep an eye on the progress and let you know when the water—and the picturesque view—returns to Echo Lake!
