Spoiler-Free Review of ‘Vacation Friends’ on Hulu. The pandemic has caused plenty of shuffling for movie studios, and sometimes movies intended for theaters have had to find a new way to be enjoyed by audiences. One such film is the new rom-con action movie, Vacation Friends from 20th Century Studios. The movie has seen plenty of delays and changes not only due to the pandemic but also the acquisition of Fox by The Walt Disney Company.

Despite being one of a handful of titles approved to move forward the studio ultimately decided to premiere Vacation Friends exclusively on Hulu. The R-rated movie is definitely NOT for young audience members, so we highly recommend watching the film out of the eyes and ears of children and teens.
Vacation Friends follows the adventures of “a crazy wild couple bonds with a straight-laced couple on vacation in Mexico. They have a great time, and then want to rekindle the fun. Once the other couple gets back to their normal life, it’s not nearly the same kind of fun and their vacation friends won’t go away.” The movie contains content that is VERY adult, with references to drug and alcohol use, strong language, and sexual content.
I do have to share that it was fun to watch the outrageous and continually escalating stories featured throughout the movie. Keeping in mind that John Cena (The Suicide Squad) and Meredith Hagner’s (Younger) characters Ron and Kyla are meant to be completely over-the-top, we thought they did an excellent job at keeping the audience on the edge of their seats wondering what could possibly happen next for Marcus and Emily, played by Lil Rel Howery (Free Guy) and Yvonne Orji (Insecure).

The film is definitely not groundbreaking when it comes to rom-com’s and action films, but it was a great escape from the humdrum of day-to-day activities and allowed us a chance to laugh and remember to not take life so seriously all the time.
Overall, we enjoyed Vacation Friends for what it is and would recommend adding it to your watch list for your next adults-only movie or date night. Vacation Friends is now available to stream exclusively on Hulu. Be sure to check back here at Chip and Company for updates and all things Hulu!
