Each year, the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) publishes an industry report that ranks theme parks all over the world based on attendance. While this is just an estimate as Disney (like other major theme parks) does not release official attendance numbers, it does reflect what parks are on top.
For 2017, Magic Kingdom park is listed in the number 1 spot seeing a 0.3% increase in attendance from 2016. The biggest movement from a Walt Disney World park was Disney’s Animal Kingdom which jumped to the 6th spot with a 15.3% increase from 2016. We can only guess that the opening of Pandora – The World of Avatar helped a little.
With Star Wars Land opening in 2019 and Toy Story Land just a few weeks away, we expect Disney’s Hollywood Studios to see a significant attendance increase over the next few years. For 2017, it saw an attendance drop of .5%.
Disney’s other park locations all made the top 25 list including Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park, Disneyland Park at Disneyland Paris and Hong Kong Disneyland. For a complete listing of the top 25 theme parks according to yearly attendance, you can visit the report for Themed Entertainment Association.
