Mark Hamill Shares He Had to Keep THAT ‘The Mandalorian’ Secret For Over a Year. This post contains MAJOR SPOILERS for The Mandalorian Chapter 16: The Rescue. If you do not wish to know any spoilers about the episode we recommend you stop reading past this point. Thank you!
No really, this post contains MAJOR spoilers so don’t read past this point unless you have already seen the season finale!… Okay I think we are clear.
Hello Star Wars Fans! This has been an epic weekend for fans who have been celebrating the triumphant appearance of THE Luke Skywalker at the end of the season 2 finale of The Mandalorian. The most exciting part is that Hamill Himself, Mark Hamill, was a part of the process. Though a body double was used on set, Hamill recorded his lines and it is thought that motion capture technology (mocap) was used to bring Luke to life on screen once again.
Mark teased fans by sharing a tweet that read, “Seen anything good on TV lately?” and needless to say, the fans came out in droves to share their excitement.
Seen anything good on TV lately?

Mark returned to Twitter today and shared, “The fact that we were able to keep my involvement a secret for over a year with no leaks is nothing less than a miracle. A real triumph for spoiler-haters everywhere!”

Honestly, looking back now, the Rosario Dawson and Katee Sackhoff casting news was enough to keep us entertained and excited for the season, but I don’t think anyone expected to see Luke Skywalker appear any time soon in the series. We’ll enjoy this little Christmas present from Lucasfilm and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for the new season next year!
You can check out a compilation of fan reactions to Luke’s The Mandalorian debut by checking out the video below, and fair warning, some reactions contain strong language. Enjoy!:
