SeaWorld in San Diego has received permission to reopen. This permission comes under provisions made for zoos, not amusement parks.
The outdoor areas of the park will be open to guests, however, the indoor aquariums and rides will remain closed. The state-issued guidelines for zoos include social distancing protocols and limiting capacity in the park. In California, zoos have more relaxed reopening policies than amusement parks.
Amusement parks like Disneyland and Universal Studios Hollywood have not been given official permission to reopen and there is no set timeline for when that might happen.
Knott’s Berry Farm has also reopened for outdoor festivals. The rides remain closed but guests can visit for the food festivals and enjoy walking around the park so long as they maintain social distancing.
Even though SeaWorld has received permission to reopen, they have not announced a set reopening date just yet.
