Scrim Removed from Magic Kingdom Haunted Mansion Revealing Restored Opening Day Color Scheme

The exterior refurbishment of The Haunted Mansion at Magic Kingdom has reached a major milestone, as scaffolding and most construction scrims have come down from the iconic Liberty Square attraction. The reveal showcases a freshly updated exterior color palette designed to match the mansion’s original 1971 opening day aesthetic.

Guests walking through Liberty Square can now see noticeable transformations across the Hudson River Gothic mansion:

• Darker Brickwork: The exterior brick facade has been refreshed with a darker, rich reddish-brown finish.
• Updated Trim Accent: The exterior trim has shifted from beige to a crisp gray.
• Classic Cupola Finish: The top cupola dome has been restored to a distinct green shade, directly honoring its look when Magic Kingdom opened in 1971.
• Roofing and Chimneys: The roof features sleek black finishing, while the chimneys display subtle, ashy black detailed weathering.
• Greenhouse Details: The wrought iron framework on the adjacent greenhouse now features a darker green coat.

While the majority of the grand facade is visible once again, final touches are still underway. A few areas of lower trim still display pale primer paint, and protective gray tarps remain along sections of the perimeter wall. Landscaping and shrubbery near the front queue will also be replanted in the coming days after being cleared for construction equipment.

The overall update brings a darker, more dramatic look to the beloved attraction facade while directly linking it back to the park’s origins.
