Scarlett Johansson Received Rare Double Academy Award Nomination for Best Actress and Supporting Actress

Scarlett Johansson Received Rare Double Academy Award Nomination for Best Actress and Supporting Actress. It’s a good year to be Scarlett Johansson during the 2020 Awards Season! With multiple films earning nominations across the board at varying award shows, Johansson has not only received a hefty number of nominations this year, but has received one of the rarest double nominations at The Academy Awards.

Scarlett has been nominated for Best Actress for her role in Netflix’s Marriage Story and a nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role in 20th Century Fox’s Jojo Rabbit. Not to mention, another film Scar Jo was a part of, Avengers: Endgame, has received a nomination for Best Visual Affects in the 92nd Oscars.

Marriage Story comes from Netflix and was a passionate project for Scarlett to work on due to the parallels in her own life. Johansson herself went through a divorce a few years ago and now coparents her daughter with her ex-husband. The film very much showcases her real emotions tied into the performance, making it completely natural for Scarlett to nab a nomination for her honest portrayal of the character.

“A stage director and his actor wife struggle through a gruelling, coast-to-coast divorce that pushes them to their personal and creative extremes.”

Scarlett plays the single mother of young Jojo Rabbit in the satirical film, directed and starred by Taika Waititi, that makes you step back and think before having a new-jerk reaction to the content within the film itself. She provided notable emotional support in the story and was an instrumental member of the cast.

“Jojo is a lonely German boy who discovers that his single mother is hiding a Jewish girl in their attic. Aided only by his imaginary friend — Adolf Hitler — Jojo must confront his blind nationalism as World War II continues to rage on.”

Johansson has been the topic of conversation frequently, especially with the premiere of her first solo Marvel film, Black Widow, merely a few months away, (May 1st). We are so glad to see 2019 was a great year for her and can’t wait to see what is in store for 2020.

Congratulations to Scarlett Johannson on her Oscar Nominations!
