Sam Richardson and Tony Hale Join the Cast of ‘Hocus Pocus 2’. Filming has begun in Rhode Island for the Hocus Pocus sequel as the cast continues to grow! According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sam Richardson (Veep) has entered the final stage of negotiations with Disney to join the film in an unspecified role.
The new mayor of Salem Jefry Traske will be played by Tony Hale (Arrested Development, Toy Story 4) per a report from The DisInsider. Both Richardson and Hale will be joining singer/actress Bette Midler (“The First Wives Club,” “Beaches”), Sarah Jessica Parker (“Sex and the City”), and Kathy Najimy (“Sister Act”). In “Hocus Pocus 2,” new characters Becca, Izzy, and Cassie accidentally bring the Sanderson Sisters back to modern-day Salem and the girls must figure out how to stop the child-hungry witches from wreaking a new kind of havoc on the world.

“Hocus Pocus 2” has begun production under the direction of Anne Fletcher (“The Proposal,” “27 Dresses”), who is taking over directing responsibilities from her friend and colleague Adam Shankman (“Hairspray,” “The Wedding Planner”), with Lynn Harris (“The Shallows”) serving as producer.
