Bob Iger “Elated” by SAG-AFTRA Strike Ending
At the Wish premiere in Hollywood, just hours after the tentative agreement with the guild was made public, Disney CEO Bob Iger shared his joy about the newly reached deal with SAG/AFTRA.
Disney CEO told Deadline “I’m elated” in regards to the strike coming to an end. “It’s been, as you know, a long summer in this town and it’s an industry that really needs to get back to work and wants to get back to work.” Iger added “I’m gonna be one of those people that’s just cheering the return to production in this community.”

“It was time,” he added of the tentative agreement, which still needs to be ratified by the unions board and membership. “I’m really happy that we were able to reach an agreement with SAG after such a long period of time for the actors and that’ll be it.”
Iger had been in hot water with the membership following his initial response that the actors’ strike was insensitive to the challenges being faced and the overall recovery efforts post covid. After that gaffe, Iger has been working diligently to repair the relationship with the actors union. Now that the strike is over, Disney, Marvel and Lucasfilm can continue with their calendar of films and television for 2024.
