Ryan Reynolds Hints at ‘Deadpool’ Talks With Marvel Studios

Ryan Reynolds Hints at ‘Deadpool’ Talks With Marvel Studios. With the acquisition of Fox by Disney, Marvel Studios now has the rights to Deadpool and related properties. For those who didn’t know, DP is currently being played by fan favorite and talented actor and producer, Ryan Reynolds.

This week, Ryan shared a photo via his verified Instagram page: @VancityReynolds, of himself in front of the now iconic Marvel Studios logo at an undisclosed location. Many fans speculate Ryan was heavily involved in the conversation about the future of Deadpool, especially given the R-rated content of the films that is not usually associated with the Disney brands.

Reynolds shared the image of him in front of the Marvel Studios logo with the caption, “Auditioned for the role of “Anthony Stark”. Didn’t come even remotely close, but the nice man with the taser escorted me to the ground.”

Though Ryan jokes about an audition with the studio, it’s relieving to know that Disney and Marvel do not intend to squander the dirty deeds of DP and have given permission for the Deadpool team to continue with R-Rated content.

Deadpool co-writer Paul Wernick recently shared the update about the 3rd films rating with EW, “We’re always in touch with Ryan… I think the party line and truth is we’re all still figuring it out. Marvel has promised to continue to let us play in the R-rated Deadpool universe, and the hope is that they will also let us veer into the MCU a little bit as well and play in that sandbox. Our feeling and Ryan’s feeling is that it’s got to be the right idea, it’s got to be great… I think once we collectively agree what idea that great idea is we’ll be off to the races. Ryan’s super-busy, we’ve got a lot of projects lined up, but we wake up thinking about Deadpool, and we go to sleep thinking about Deadpool.”

Deadpool co-writer, Rhett Reese, also spoke on the change from Fox to Marvel in a recent interview, “Marvel’s a rich universe of both heroes and also, wonderfully, villains, so we would love to see Deadpool enter that universe in a fun way. It’s just about figuring out how and when. [Plus] Ryan [Reynolds] is very busy and the transition has delayed everything because you just don’t know. [Marvel Studios] is figuring out the next version of the MCU obviously and that’s its own beast. Then you throw Deadpool in there and the X-Men and stuff, and it’s crazy.”

Though Ryan Reynolds remains busy with work, he has shown time and time again that he is dedicated to Deadpool and making sure the character gets the justice he deserves on screen, even with a change in Studios. Many fans, including Ryan Reynolds himself,  are hoping to see Deadpool enter the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) alongside Tom Holland’s Peter Parker/Spider-Man, but with the rocky relationship between Sony and Disney at the moment, if it doesn’t happen in the third Spider-Man film we will likely never get to see the pair onscreen together. [Insert sad music and frowny faces here]

We can not wait to see what Marvel has in store for the “Merc with a Mouth” and his grand entrance into the MCU. How do you think Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool will be introduced? Will he make a cameo appearance in another Marvel film or will Deadpool 3 explain the newly reunited characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? We would love to hear your thoughts and ideas in the comments.
