Russell Crowe Joins the Cast of ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ As… Actor Russell Crowe has been rumored to be on Marvel Studios’ radar for a while now, and it seems he will now make his MCU debut! During an interview with JOY Breakfast with The Murphys, Crowe shared:

“I’m gonna get on my bicycle. I’m gonna ride up to Disney Fox Studios, and around about 9:15 I shall be Zeus!” He continued to say that at that time it would be his final day of filming for the highly anticipated sequel, sharing with the hosts, “It’s for Thor. It’s my last day of Zeus-ing about and I’m going to enjoy it.”

Many fans have speculated that Crowe would be playing a God in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it comes as no surprise that a big name like Russell Crowe would get the part of the Big Man himself, Zeus. This does beg the question though, will we meet Hercules in Thor: Love and Thunder, and would he appear in a cameo or in a larger role for the film. Before you get too confused, Hercules is more than just the animated “Zero to Hero” we know and love, and is in fact a repeating character throughout the comics over the last 60 years!

In the Marvel Comics, Hercules is the son of Zeus, king of the gods of Olympus, and Alcmena, a mortal woman who lived about three thousand years ago. Recognizing the need for a son who would be powerful enough to defend both the Olympian gods and humanity from future dangers he foresaw, Zeus seduced Alcmena in the guise of her husband, King Amphitryon of Troezen. Thanks to Zeus’s enchantment, Hercules was born with the potential for extraordinary strength, which he first displayed before he was even one year old by strangling two serpents which attacked him. As an adult, Hercules is best known for his celebrated Twelve Labors, which were performed in part to prove his worthiness for immortality to Zeus.

Thor: Love and Thunder is currently set to premiere on May 6, 2022 and will star Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Natalie Portman (Jane Foster/The Mighty Thor), Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie), Russell Crowe (Zues), and the Guardians of the Galaxy, with Christian Bale (Gorr the God Butcher). 1. Sounds interesting. Haven’t read the comics but loved learning about mythology as a kid/teen. Still not thrilled with Natalie Portman being The Mighty Thor. The girl is not that likable. Never liked her in the MCU. Or Star Wars. Thor movies were better without her. So basically Ragnarok.
