Those traveling to Disney’s Magic Kingdom will behold a new sight upon seeing Liberty Square. The water in Magic Kingdom’s Rivers of America has been drained.
Check out the photos below to see what a portion of Rivers of America looks like currently.
Have you ever seen the water drained before at Rivers of America? It’s only necessary to drain the water whenever a refurbishment effort is taking place.
The official ride description sums up the charm of the Liberty Square Riverboat:
Steam into American history aboard the majestic, Colonial-era Liberty Belle riverboat and enjoy a relaxing half-mile tour around Tom Sawyer Island.
Along the way, listen to a recorded narrator—in the voice of iconic American author and humorist Mark Twain—sharing memories of Twain’s time on the Mississippi.
It’s full steam ahead on this historic, nostalgic trip back to the past!
Obviously the Liberty Square Riverboat is not functional at this time. Both Tom Sawyer Island and Liberty Square Riverboat are included on the refurbishment schedule.
A February reopening date has been announced for the Liberty Square Riverboat, so it should reopen for guests to ride within the next few months. The current refurbishment will help make Magic Kingdom magical for the 50th anniversary!
