Sofia goes on her most thrilling adventure yet in “Sofia The First: The Curse of Princess Ivy“, now on DVD. Recently my family got to review this epic journey with Sofia!

We love Sofia the First in our home, and I also have a big obsession with the Disney Princesses, so new Sofia DVDs are always an exciting event here. The cover art was spectacular, and let’s us know that a special appearance from my favorite princess Rapunzel awaits us on this adventure. Not only does this DVD contain the full-length episode of The Curse of Princess Ivy, it also has 3 other enchanting tales, and a magical surprise inside!

Synopsis:

The revelation of a spellbinding secret sets in motion the most thrilling adventure in the history of Sofia the First! After learning that the Amulet of Avalor is magical, Amber snatches it while Sofia is sleeping. Unfortunately, she unwittingly unleashes a curse that summons evil Princess Ivy, who threatens to destroy the amulet, seize the crown and turn the entire kingdom black-and-white! Amber and Sofia soar through the skies on a flying dragon – aided by special guest Rapunzel – as they embark on a daring quest to defeat Ivy, break the curse and save Enchancia. Packed with high-flying excitement, plus three more song-filled episodes, The Curse of Princess Ivy shows how love, trust, and unselfishly putting others’ needs first can truly work magic!

This new adventure, not only had wonderful story telling, but lots of valuable lessons to be learned. The other 3 episodes on the DVD follow the theme of learning not to be selfish very well. My family really enjoyed the singing dragons, and we are hoping that we get to see them again. Mandy Moore reprises her role of Rapunzel in The Curse of Princess Ivy, and belts out an amazing song about trust and showing you can put someone else’s needs above your own instead of just saying it. If you are a fan of Sofia, princesses, or heroic adventures this is definitely the DVD for you!

The other thing I enjoy about Disney Junior DVDs is the bonus trinkets that can be found inside. Sofia the First: The Curse of Princess Ivy was no exception with it’s magical bauble. when opening the case for the DVD you see one of Princess Ivy’s black and white butterflies resting on a purple cord

The adorable butterfly necklace is great just as it is. A bit of magic is hidden within this necklace though. When you step into the sun, the necklace changes into a beautiful purple, like the sparkling splendor of the Amulet of Avalor! This bonus adds a lot of value to the DVD, and I might keep wearing it myself!
