Our Review and Interview for ‘Muppets Now‘ on Disney+. Audiences were thrilled to hear The Muppets would return to television on ABC in 2015, but the series never made it past the first season due to poor viewership after a massive marketing campaign. The flop was a hard hit for many fans who didn’t feel like the beloved characters lived up to their fond memories of their childhood and included content that was not family-friendly enough for parents who had wanted to enjoy the series with their children.
It seems Disney has learned their lesson from the tv flop and now, The Muppets are set to make their streaming debut on Muppets Now. “Muppets Now” is The Muppets Studio’s first unscripted series and first original series for Disney+. In the six-episode season, Scooter rushes to make his production deadlines and upload the brand-new Muppet series for streaming. The segments are due NOW, and he’ll need to navigate whatever obstacles, distractions, and complications the rest of the Muppet gang throws at him.
The first season’s celebrity guest list includes entertainers, comedians, chefs, and more. Muppets Fans, you won’t want to miss the all-new improvised comedy segments from our favorite Muppets including: Miss Piggy, Beaker, Camilla, Dr. Bunsen Honeydew, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo the Great, Kermit the Frog, Pepe the King Prawn, The Swedish Chef, Scooter, Uncle Deadly, and more.
The series is much more reminiscent of the original The Muppet Show series, but with more modern twists. The new segments alternate in each episode which keeps the audience entertained and surprised each new week, and you are never quite sure what is in store! Some segments include: Lifestyle with Miss Piggy, Okey Dokey Kookin starring Swedish Chef, Muppets Labs Field Test with Beaker and Dr Bunsen Honeydew, and more! Many of the moments in the series are inspired by viral online platform ideas including game shows, cooking shows, interviews, vlogs, but the unscripted nature of the series keeps both the audience and The Muppets on their toes.
Recently, our lead Entertainment and News Writer, Kaitlyn Hogancamp, got to speak one-on-one with Scooter from The Muppets about his experience on the new series. You can check out our interview with Scooter from Muppets Now in the video posted below:
Those who hold precious memories of The Muppets will enjoy the jokes, the chaos, and nostalgic elements of the series, while feeling comfortable about letting their kids join in on the streaming fun. Muppets Now is set to premiere via Disney+ on July 31st, with new episodes premiering weekly on the following Fridays.
