Chip and Company brought you the news of venues closing at the Downtown Disney District at Disneyland. One Starbucks location closed, as did the ESPN Zone, Earl of Sandwich and AMC Theaters. The closures were ahead of Disney’s plans to build a new 700-room luxury hotel.

Disney has now scrapped the plans due to an issue with tax rebates from the City of Anaheim. The Earl of Sandwich restaurant has since reopened, but no other venues have yet to do the same.

However, per the Orange County Register, Landry’s–the owner of Rainforest Café–says they want to reopen the animal-themed restaurant at Downtown Disney. They further shared that Disney is aware of their desire to operate Rainforest Café again.

Disney officials have said there are currently no conversations about Rainforest Café returning to the Downtown Disney shopping and entertainment district, and that they cannot comment on discussions with their tenants.

What do you think? Have you missed Rainforest Café since it closed? Do you want the restaurant to reopen, or do you have other ideas for how the space might be used? Let us know and check back soon for the most recent news about Disney’s plans for the Downtown Disney District.
