To say there’s more than meets the eye at Disney World is an understatement. When it comes to magic, every angle is considered. Even the trash. Now, don’t click away just yet. PUSH on through the urge to abandon this article and you’ll come out smelling roses!
I’ll go ahead and tell you, we’re not talking your typical trash. No Premium Mickey wrappers, Dole Whip cups, or water bottles here! Today we are talking the real deal, the supreme stinker, the ever lovable can with the plan…PUSH: the magic trash can! Today I’m doing the dirty work and giving you a heap of information about this awesome interactive experience. Let’s get started!
A trashcan is a trashcan is a trashcan…right?
Short answer…NO! PUSH is much more than your ordinary trash can! In fact, this trash can isn’t really meant to hold your trash at all (although many guests “feed” him anyway). PUSH is a talking robotic trashcan who interacts with guests. Young and old alike will be left in wonder as PUSH carries on conversations with unsuspecting guests. There is a secret to how PUSH works, but I’ll never tell. I hate to take away that magic, but with a bit of observation, prediction, and theory testing you can discover the magic for yourself (if you can’t watch PUSH first hand, catch him on countless Youtube videos).
Where/When can you find PUSH?
PUSH makes his way through the Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland, typically near Mickey’s Star Traders (although I’ve even seen him as far away as the hub of the park just before the parade). He appears daily (of course there are occasions where PUSH might be a no show, like in the event of inclement weather) and makes his way around interacting with park guests. If you don’t know exactly when/where to find him, just ask a cast member and they’ll point you in the right direction.
What’s it all about?
So you might be asking, “what is PUSH all about?” In a nutshell, PUSH is about making your entire trip magical. Creating an atmosphere where guests are full of wonder as they literally have a conversation with a trash can can only happen with Disney Magic! PUSH isn’t shy, so go up and chat with him. You’ll usually see a crowd of people gathered around this lovable trash can and you’ll hear his cute little digitized voice. It is so cute to see the reactions of kids and grown ups as PUSH asks them questions. Almost everyone wants to see if there is a person inside the trash can and as you see heads peer behind the flap labeled “push” (yeah, that’s where his name came from) you’ll see a look of shock on their face when they re-emerge puzzled by the lack of human and presence of trash. PUSH notices everything, so be ready to talk about…you…as in your clothing choice, what you are carrying or eating, or where you’re from. PUSH has some tricks of his own up his sleeve too. He can do a couple of cool tricks including some pretty awesome singing and some pretty amazing wheelies. Take out your camera to snap a picture or shoot a video and you’ll get a little performance as PUSH hams it up! You won’t regret stopping to spend some time with this cute little guy!
I hope you’ll make it your mission to hunt down PUSH next time you are at Disney World! Maybe you chat it up with him every trip, maybe you’ve been trying to track him down for a while, maybe you’ve never even heard of him…wherever you fall in that continuum, I hope that you will give PUSH a chance.

I met PUSH once, but was surprised to see him at the Living Seas in Epcot.
Are the Jammitors still at Epcot? They are my favorite.
I have to laugh at people who take stills with PUSH…yeah, right, a ‘talking’ trash can. It’s a picture of you and a garbage can, I mean really? Whose gonna believe it unless you have video?
