Herbie

Are you ready to see everyone’s favorite Volkswagon Beetle, back on screen? It seems a Herbie the Love Bug television series is in talks for Disney XD. The beloved Beetle made his original début in the classic 1968 Walt Disney Productions film, The Love Bug, and most recently appeared in the 2005 Walt Disney Pictures Herbie: Fully Loaded – starring Lindsey Lohan.

According to TVLine, the potential series is still in search of a young star to play Herbie’s friend, although they have yet to decide whether they will cast the role with a girl or a boy. The series will follow Landon/Lilo as he/she discovers his/her parents have been secretly working on a government project, a talking car named Herbie. When his/her parents go missing, the child teams up with Herbie to find them, all while trying to escape the clutches of a criminal gang attempting to get their hands on the talking car.

Disney alums Tom Burkhard and Matt Dearborn (Zeke and LutherEven Stevens) will executive-produce the new series, along with Travis Braun (Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders) who is also said to be writing the series.

Are you excited to see this potential reboot? I always loved Herbie as a child and am anxious to see how they re-imagine the lovable bug, for my kids to enjoy!
