Possible upcoming changes to travel to Hawaii

The state of Hawaii is considering making changes to its travel requirements for visitors. Currently, guests who are vaccinated are able to bypass the State of Hawaii’s mandatory quarantine. Hawaii might change that policy to require visitors to be up to date on their Covid-19 boosters as well in order to skip quarantining.

Guests who are not vaccinated can choose to show proof of a negative Covid-19 test taken within 72 hours before their flight to Hawaii in order to bypass quarantining as well. This is all part of the State of Hawai‘i Safe Travels Hawai‘i program.

Proof of vaccination or negative Covid-19 test is also required for many businesses on Oahu. As part of the Safe Access Oahu program “customers must show proof of full vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test result taken within the previous 48 hours in order to enter the establishment. Children under 12 years old are exempt.” Establishments include restaurants, bars, gyms, movie theaters, arcades, and other similar establishments.
