Po’s Kung Fu Training Camp and Po Live! Closing for Extended Refurbishment at Universal Orlando

Looks like Po is heading off for a little training montage of his own. Universal Orlando Resort has confirmed that both Po’s Kung Fu Training Camp and Po Live! inside DreamWorks Land at Universal Studios Florida will temporarily close for refurbishment beginning May 18, 2026.

According to Universal’s refurbishment calendar, the closures are expected to last through July 3, which would position both attractions to reopen just in time for the busy Fourth of July holiday crowds.

The closure affects two of DreamWorks Land’s major Kung Fu Panda experiences. Po’s Kung Fu Training Camp serves as the land’s interactive play area, complete with climbing structures, water effects, and the now-infamous giant tipping water bucket. Meanwhile, Po Live! features the animated dragon warrior himself interacting with guests in a digital live-show format.

The refurbishment comes after a rocky first year for parts of the play area. Several effects inside Po’s Kung Fu Training Camp had been non-operational or altered following the land’s opening. Earlier this spring, the giant water bucket finally returned to operation after being inactive for nearly a year.

Even with the bucket restored, some missing elements remained noticeable throughout the area. One bamboo tower beneath the bucket had been absent since at least April 2025, replaced with a construction box, while decorative laundry props and interactive water cannon targets quietly disappeared from sections of the play area.

For longtime Universal fans, the water bucket itself may look familiar. The effect was carried over from the former Curious George Goes to Town attraction that previously occupied the space before DreamWorks Land opened.

While Universal has not announced specific details about the refurbishment work, the extended closure window suggests the resort may be taking the opportunity to address lingering maintenance and thematic issues throughout the area. For families visiting this summer, especially with younger kids, this could leave DreamWorks Land feeling a little less panda-monium-filled than usual.
