During the past month or so testing has been going on with cast members and a few guests.  Starting later this week all guests staying at The Pop Century Resort will only be issued MagicBands and no Key to the World cards.

You can still request a Key to the World Card but,  the magnetic strip will not work so it can’t be used in the traditional Fastpass machines. Is this the start of Disney eliminating paper fastpasses at Disney World?

I think it’s safe to say that we should expect to see MagicBands only in all resorts very soon. I was told that Annual Passholders will be getting their notifications soon about picking their MagicBands. (The rumor is February 2014)

Are you excited about MagicBands? Or do you prefer the Keys to the World cards? Let us know in the comment box below.

  1. The trip in December was a disaster. Stayed at Pop Century. Were not issued key to the world cards.
Unable to access Fastpass machines in the parks. Limited to three reserved times in one park.
No choice then but to wait in the long lines. I’ve been to Disney World 20+ times this was the worst.
Why should WE be penalized for trying the new system out for them. I feel my trip should been without charge.

  2. did not like the magic band. did not work all the time and made my arthritic wrist hurt no matter what size big or larger. I prefer the card as it works every time.

  3. I’m here now at the Boardwalk. We’re testing the magic bands but were also issued a key card, which I have used. One, for getting into the laundry room. Two, for getting some afterhour doors at the resort to let me in (the sensor didn’t recognize the magic band) and I’ve used it another time or two (but I can’t remember why). So I’m totally glad that I’ve been carrying it around!

  4. We are here right now at Pop and have really had no need for key to the world card except at animal kingdom parking they were not going to let us in with band and had to show card to not have to pay for parking. Other than that they have worked awesome!

  5. We will be staying at Pop the first week in December. We got our magic bands and are very excited. I think we will be okay with out the cards.

  6. We are headed down December 9-15 and we just received our magic bands. While I am excited about using them, my hubby is not excited at all. He put it on and said he would not be wearing his at all. He hates the way it fits. We are staying at Pop Century too so we shall see how it goes.

  7. We were in Disney week of 10/26/13 and stayed at the POP Century Resort. We got our magicbands before hand and a room key card when checking in that we NEVER USED!
