Play Disney Parks App Permanently Shutting Down in September
Disney is getting ready to pull the plug on the Play Disney Parks app. The app will officially be retired on September 16, 2026, when it will be removed from app stores and users will no longer be able to log in. That means several interactive park experiences tied to the app are either changing or disappearing completely.

One of the biggest losses will be the Star Wars: Datapad, which lets guests interact with elements throughout Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. That feature will retire along with the app. Batuu Bounty Hunters will still be available using MagicBand+ and the screens located around Galaxy’s Edge, but the app portion of the experience will no longer function.
The future of DuckTales World Showcase Adventure is less clear. The EPCOT experience is currently down for refurbishment, and Disney has not shared any additional details about what will happen once Play Disney Parks shuts down. Other app features, including queue games, trivia, digital achievements, and experiences like the Disney Fab 50 Quest, will also disappear with the retirement of the app. MagicBand+ interactions around the parks will continue.

Play Disney Parks has been part of the in-park experience for years, giving guests something extra to do while waiting in line or exploring themed lands, but its final countdown is now underway.
