At the IAAPA Expo, the park’s design team displayed their dedication to all children by unveiling a new ride vehicle that will accommodate children in wheelchairs. Merlin Entertainments’ creative and project delivery team, Merlin Magic Making, along with the ride manufacturers at Technical Park paid special attention to accessibility when designing multiple features of the park. For example, on Peppa Pig’s Balloon Ride, a specially-designed basket will allow someone in a wheelchair to roll straight onto the basket instead of transferring out of their wheelchair. This modification will ensure that families can enjoy this attraction together!

The Muddy Puddles Splash Pad is another area all guests can enjoy. The ground is graded for wheelchair use and several heights of water play are being integrated, including a tunnel of water hoops! Peppa’s Pedal Bike Tour can be explored without leaving a wheelchair, as can the maze at George’s Fort. Fun Fair free game counters are all at accessible heights so everyone can play!

Peppa Pig Theme Park To Open as a Certified Autism Center

Peppa Pig Theme Park has also decided to partner with The International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES) to become accredited as a Certified Autism Center (CAC) on the day that it opens. IBCCES is working to provide autism sensitivity and awareness training to all staff at the Peppa Pig Theme Park. They will also be making more tangible updates to in-park communications. This training will be an ongoing process and commitment to ensure that anyone working there is an expert in accommodating families and children with special needs, specifically on the autism spectrum. The training will include sensory awareness, environment, communication, motor and social skills, program development, emotional awareness, and a comprehensive autism competency exam.

A detailed Sensory Guide with reviews of every attraction and insights for children with sensory processing issues is being developed by IBCCES. This will provide a comprehensive planning tool for parents and families to use in planning activities.

LEGOLAND® Florida Resort is also committed to earning a CAC designation by the grand opening of Peppa Pig Theme Park. That means more families will be able to truly enjoy LEGOLAND together! To book your tickets, Annual Passes, or Vacation Packages, head to PeppaPigThemePark.com/Florida.
