CAW! CAW! ROAR!
Russell, from the Pixar movie “Up”, would definitely agree that Pandora – The World of Avatar is a perfect wilderness for exploration. He would also be pleased to hear that Wilderness Explorer troop leaders were among the first to have traveled to this new world and have 2 new badges ready to be earned. Young Wilderness Explorers will have opportunities to learn about the flora and fauna around them in the Valley of Mo’ara and compare these observations to the plants and animals found on Earth.
Wilderness Explorers can complete 30 different challenges spread around Animal Kingdom to earn badge stickers for their Wilderness Explorer Handbook. This self-guided experience offers hands-on activities that teaches kids something new about animals and nature skills.
Venture through the Pandoran jungle to earn two new Wilderness Explorer badges. The first is the Botany badge, which is teaches explorers about plant adaptations using the example of Pandora’s Flaska reclinata (a plant that responds to touch).
The second badge is for Ecology. Explorers learn about the relationship between living creatures and nature both on Pandora and back home on Earth.
If you have already participated in the Wilderness Explorer program before, you can add these new badges to your existing handbook. Troop leaders around the park will be happy to provide you a new handbook if you would like to start fresh. Badges can be earned daily from 10 a.m. until dusk, or 45 minutes prior to sunset when Gorilla Falls and Maharajah Jungle Trek close.
Are you excited to earn these new badges? I wonder how you say “The wilderness must be explored!” in the Na’vi language!
