Three New Restaurants are Coming Soon to Downtown Disney

Get ready to tantalize your taste buds at Downtown Disney in Disneyland Resort. A fiesta of flavors awaits with the arrival of three new restaurants this spring!

With a vibrant expression of his native food and culture, Mexico’s first Michelin-starred Chef Carlos Gaytán is bringing authentic Mexican fare to the Downtown Disney District. His dishes will take guests on a multi-sensory journey to the heart of his homeland of Huitzuco, Mexico, through three distinctive concepts opening in the next few weeks: Paseo, Céntrico and Tiendita!

A stunning staircase will lead you to Paseo’s show-stopping dining room and bar area lined with rich woods, tiles, textures, leathers and custom accents that celebrate Mexico’s craftsmanship culture. An extended upper patio will offer exceptional new views of the district!

Chef Gaytán’s connection to his homeland comes to life as he pairs his love of Mexico with French culinary style and technique. Standout Paseo menu items will include colorful ceviches, Mama’s cochinita pibil (roasted marinated pork), lamb barbacoa and the mejillones (mussels).

Céntrico, the courtyard bar and restaurant, will be an energetic, central gathering place serving upscale Mexican cuisine and tequila-based cocktails. Its open, airy spaces designed with custom wood elements and lush greenery will welcome you into its outdoor canopy.

Céntrico’s featured dishes will include quesabirrias, chicken enchiladas, tlayuda (a Oaxacan shareable dish reminiscent of a pizza with a perfect crunch) and one of Chef Gaytán’s favorites, Caesar salad.

At Tiendita, you’ll experience Mexican heritage flavors and street-food staples on the go. Through a self-ordering kiosk, menu options will include esquites (roasted corn), fish tacos, ice cream- stuffed chocolate tacos, and breakfast favorites like chorizo breakfast burritos and chilaquiles (marinated tortilla chips with egg). You may even see the expert culinary team at work, adding to the experience!

Derek and Hayley Hough Visit Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Derek and Hayley Hough, the famed “Dancing with the Stars” champion, and his wife enjoyed a magical break from their Symphony of Dance tour at Disney’s Animal Kingdom on April 19, 2024! The couple, along with their dance crew, were spotted soaking up the sunshine and sharing some Disney fun together at the park in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

Derek and Hayley shared a special moment in front of the Tree of Life while visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom. After, Hayley said she planned to enjoy the seasoned fries at Mr. Kamal’s in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, calling it her favorite dish at Walt Disney World.

The crew performed at Orlando’s Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts the day after visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom. It was one of four stops in Florida.

Get ready for a rootin’ tootin’ good time at Tokyo Disneyland! The beloved Country Bear Vacation Jamboree is moseyin’ on back after a five-year hiatus. This special summer overlay returns from May 17th through November 7th, so grab your cowboy hat and boots and get ready to sing along to all your favorite country classics with this lively bunch of bears!

“Country Bear Theater is an attraction at Tokyo Disneyland where eighteen charismatic bears with unique personalities entertain guests with a humorous country and western performance. From May 17 through November 7, Country Bear Theater will feature the special summer version, “Vacation Jamboree,” for the first time in five years. Guests can enjoy a cheerful vacation as they join these lively and fun-loving bears in an unforgettable experience.”

With Country Bear Vacation Jamboree ending in November, it’s possible that Jingle Bell Jamboree (the holiday special) will also return.

Attention Star Wars fans! Building your own lightsaber at Savi’s Workshop in Disney’s Hollywood Studios just got an update. From now on, you’ll need to pay for the entire experience upfront when you make your reservation. Before, you could wait to pay until you arrived at the workshop itself.

Step into a hidden world within Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Savi’s Workshop. Here, seasoned artisans called Gatherers guide you through the creation of your very own lightsaber. Surrounded by the lore of the galaxy, this immersive experience lets you explore a secret workshop overflowing with unique parts and mysterious relics collected from across the cosmos.

Choose your path – will your lightsaber embody Peace and Justice, raw Power and Control, the untamed power of Elemental Nature, or unwavering Protection and Defense? Each theme unlocks unique components steeped in Star Wars lore, from echoes of Jedi temples to symbols of the Force itself.

The adventure continues as you select a kyber crystal, the beating heart of your lightsaber. These mystical stones come in red, blue, green, and violet, each whispering tales of the galaxy far, far away. Finally, with the Gatherer’s guidance, assemble your hilt using the bounty of parts laid before you. Once complete, a 31-inch blade ignites, transforming your creation into a true lightsaber, ready to ignite your Star Wars journey.

Lightsaber Building Basics:

Lightsaber Cost: The experience to build your own lightsaber is $249.99 plus tax, payable upfront when you book your reservation.
Age Restrictions: Builders must be at least five years old. Guests under 14 require adult supervision (one adult per guest under 14).
Party Size: The experience is limited to the builder and one guest who cannot build their own lightsaber during this session.

Calling all Disney Pixar fans! Pixar Fest starts on April 26 and we’ve got a first look at the ‘Together Forever – A Pixar Nighttime Spectacular’!

“Together Forever – A Pixar Nighttime Spectacular” will return to Disneyland park with some all-new scenes from the creative teams at Disney Live Entertainment and Pixar. Celebrating the heart of Pixar storytelling, this nighttime spectacular takes you on an emotional journey of friendship with Pixar pals as they meet for the first time, set out on adventures, overcome adversity and in the end, forge everlasting bonds.

In addition to iconic moments from the original production — like Miguel strumming his guitar and Carl and Ellie’s house floating above Sleeping Beauty Castle — you’ll also see new scenes added featuring characters and moments from Pixar’s “Onward,” “Soul,” “Luca,” “Turning Red” and “Elemental” brought to life like never before.

Vivid projections, colorful lasers and memorable music can be enjoyed from multiple locations throughout Disneyland, including the Rivers of America, the façade of “it’s a small world” and Main Street, U.S.A. And on most evenings, fireworks will illuminate the sky with this beloved show.

Disney+ has released the official trailer for the upcoming documentary “Jim Henson Idea Man,” directed by Academy Award-winner Ron Howard. The film follows the extraordinary life and work of Jim Henson, the visionary artist and Disney Legend who brought us some of the world’s most beloved characters.

Henson’s 36-year career was a whirlwind of creativity. He gave life to classic Muppets like Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy, and created the iconic residents of Sesame Street, including Big Bird, Grover, Cookie Monster, and Bert and Ernie. But Henson’s talents went beyond his ability to bring life to these incredible puppets. He also directed critically acclaimed fantasy films like The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth.

This one of a kind documentary offers an intimate look at Henson’s life, with the full cooperation of the Henson family. “Jim Henson Idea Man” goes beyond what the public eye, using never-before-seen personal archives like home movies, photographs, sketches, and Henson’s diaries. First Look at ‘Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration!’ Parade

Pixar Fest starts Friday, April 26, at the Disneyland Resort! Today we got a look at the ‘Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration!’ Parade at Disney California Adventure.

Dynamic and colorful floats will make their way through Disney California Adventure park twice per day in the new “Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration!” parade from Disney Live Entertainment, with high-energy dancing and appearances by more than two dozen Pixar characters.

You’ll spot Red Panda Mei and her friends rocking out to their favorite boy band, 4*Town; Joe Gardner and 22 from “Soul” celebrating the sweeter things in life; Luca, Alberto and Giulia from “Luca” enjoying their time together on the water’s edge in Portorosso; and more.

The grand finale will feature Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl from “The Incredibles,” Miguel from “Coco,” Mike and Sulley from “Monsters, Inc.,” and Woody, Jessie and Buzz Lightyear from “Toy Story.”

Pixar Fest begins this week at the Disneyland Resort! For the first time, there will be Pixar Fest Marketplaces at Disney California Adventure.

There will be six unique marketplaces arriving on May 10th. Each will be themed to a different Pixar film. Today Disney shared a look at the marketplace signs.
