Disney Cruise Line veterans often look forward to the quack-tastic tradition of finding hidden ducks around the ship. This tradition is sadly seemingly coming to an end, as it appears Disney is cracking down on guests hiding items like ducks during a Disney Cruise.

The tradition of finding ducks on a cruise is a cruising tradition that is not limited to Disney Cruise Line. Ducks are hidden by cruise passengers for other passengers to find, with some ducks containing information on the folks who hid them.

Recently, a guest asked the Plan Disney page where a good spot to hide a duck would be, and the response from Plan Disney noted “Guests cannot hide things in public areas around the ship.” On another Plan Disney post, a guest noted security was removing the ducks and instructed the guest to stop hiding them.

While this may be a disappointment to some guests, we can certainly see the logic of security being leary of items being hidden around the ships. There thankfully are tons of fun activities to keep you occupied on your next Disney cruise, but it appears hiding and finding ducks will unfortunately no longer be one of them.

Create a Disney Account

You’ll need a Disney account to purchase a Magic Key pass online.
If you’re a California resident, your stored Disney account address must be a California address in order to view any monthly payment options for available Magic Key passes when they are on sale.

You may want to add and save a preferred credit card in your Disney account. If you’re a California resident, make sure the stored credit card has a California billing address in order to use it for monthly payments.

Pass Upgrades
A current Magic Key pass may be upgraded to an available higher pass type for the remainder of its pass year. The difference in purchase price between the 2 passes must be paid in full at the time of upgrade. The expiration date of the Magic Key pass will not change. Passes may be upgraded at the Disneyland Resort ticket booth only, while passes are available for sale. Please note that you might encounter a wait at the ticket booth.

Today the Walt Disney Company honored the late Disney Legend Glynis Johns with a special tribute on their website after news broke of her passing…

Disney Legend Glynis Johns passed away from natural causes on Thursday, January 4th, in Los Angeles, her manager confirmed. She was 100 years old.

Perhaps best known to Disney fans as feminist Winifred Banks in the Academy Award^®-winning Mary Poppins (1964), Johns became everyone’s favorite sister suffragette. Walt Disney himself personally selected her to play the career-defining role, having been drawn, like many a moviegoer, by her sparkling screen persona. His choice of casting was spot on, as film critic Leonard Maltin pointed out in his book The Disney Films: “She lights up the screen the minute she appears [in Mary Poppins],” he wrote. “She makes every minute count, and her amusing suffragette song is most enjoyable.”

Inducted as a Disney Legend in 1998, Johns was born to Welsh parents on October 5, 1923, in Pretoria, South Africa. She made history when she received a degree to teach dance by age 10. By 12, she won 25 gold medals for dance in England and, by 13, appeared in her first film, South Riding (1938). Her first adult role came in Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger’s 49th Parallel (1941), released in America as The Invaders and starring Laurence Olivier, Leslie Howard, and Raymond Massey. By 19, she became the youngest actress to play the lead role in the theatrical production of Peter Pan.

She became associated with The Walt Disney Studios in the early 1950s, when it began to produce live-action films in England.

She starred as the capricious Mary Tudor in 1953’s The Sword and the Rose, co-starring Richard Todd. As Helen Mary MacGregor in Rob Roy, the Highland Rogue (1953), she played the spirited wife of a Scottish freedom fighter. A decade later, in 1964, she returned to Disney to star in Mary Poppins. The hit musical amassed 13 Academy Award^® nominations and garnered five Oscars^®.

Johns also starred in such television shows as General Electric Theatre and The Cavanaughs, as well as her own series, Glynis. She appeared in other series including Batman, Cheers, and Murder She Wrote, starring another Disney Legend, the late Angela Lansbury.

In 1960, Johns won an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Mrs. Firth in The Sundowners, starring Robert Mitchum. Later, she received a Tony Award^® in 1973 for her stunning stage performance as Desiree Armfeldt in the original cast of Stephen Sondheim’s A Little Night Music. About Johns, Sondheim once said that her rendition of “Send in the Clowns” remained his favorite.

In all, she performed in more than two dozen theatrical productions and more than 50 feature films, including Oscar Wilde’s An Ideal Husband (1947) starring Paulette Goddard and Dear Brigitte (1965) with James Stewart. She also appeared in a children’s TV anthology version of The Secret Garden alongside Derek Jacobi, for ABC.

In 1994, Johns returned to The Walt Disney Studios to co-star in the Touchstone comedy The Ref. The next year she appeared in Hollywood Pictures’ smash hit While You Were Sleeping, starring Sandra Bullock. Johns was also featured in archival footage in the documentary Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious: The Making of ‘Mary Poppins’ (2004) from Buena Vista Home Entertainment and the HBO documentary Six by Sondheim (2013).

A decade prior to her iconic role as the suffragette mother in “Mary Poppins,” Johns graced another Disney production, “The Sword and the Rose.” Her versatile talent earned her recognition as a Disney Legend in 1998, a title she held until her recent passing. Glynis Johns also secured the distinction of being the oldest living Oscar nominee for acting.

New Disney Villainous Alert: Revamped Introduction to Evil and Sugar and Spite

Available Nationwide in August For newcomers to the Villainous universe, Ravensburger has crafted the perfect entry point with “Disney Villainous: Introduction to Evil.” Originally released in 2023 as a limited Disney100 offering, this game will be available nationwide in August at mass retailers and hobby stores.

The refreshed version includes video resources and streamlined gameplay, making it accessible and welcoming for beginners. Priced at $29.99 USD, it also features a new box design and brings back some of the franchise’s first Disney Villains, including Maleficent, Captain Hook, Ursula, and Prince John.

“The Villainous community is full of passionate, friendly fans, who’ve used our games to introduce friends to the board gaming hobby for years, and we take that responsibility very seriously,” said Lysa Penrose, Head of New Games Marketing at Ravensburger.

“We want to make board gaming as approachable as possible. For Villainous as an introductory game, the adjusted format lowers the price of entry and offers an easier option for couples or smaller groups of friends to enjoy gameplay, while still offering the exciting, immersive mechanics… and a few surprises… that core fans have grown to love.”

Disney Villainous: Sugar and Spite, featuring King Candy from Disney’s “Wreck-It Ralph” and Shere Khan from Disney’s “The Jungle Book,” will become the franchise’s newest “expandalone” when it debuts in June. A special edition of the game, featuring a candy bar-themed packaging sleeve and exclusive finish on King Candy’s mover will be available exclusively at Target.

Ravensburger is set to explore the depths of the Star Wars™ universe with an upcoming standalone expansion slated for release in the summer of 2024. Stay tuned for additional information about the game, including highlighted characters, as we approach the official launch later this year.

2024 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend Draws Thousands of Enthusiastic Runners to Central Florida

Runners from various corners of the globe are converging on Central Florida to participate in the highly anticipated Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend from RunDisney/!

This annual event, considered one of Central Florida’s premier sporting spectacles, kicked off with the runDisney Health & Fitness Expo at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. Runners of all skill levels eagerly picked up their race bibs and shirts, explored the runDisney merchandise, and discovered the latest in running and fitness products.

The marathon weekend unfolds with the 5K on Thursday, followed by the 10K on Friday, the half marathon on Saturday, and culminating with the marathon on Sunday. Runners are also challenging themselves to earn special medals through feats like the Dopey Challenge (completing all four races) and Goofy’s Race and a Half Challenge (half marathon and marathon).
