Keep an Eye (Patch) Out for Lari in Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

There’s a sly grin and a twinkle in his eye (or maybe it’s the one under the patch?) – Lari the Armadillo is up to something in the exciting new ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, that opened June 28th at Magic Kingdom Park and later this year at Disneyland Park.

As you join Tiana on her quest to find musicians for her big party, you’ll meet Lari, a nine-banded armadillo with a knack for finding anything you might need. While everyone else is out searching, Lari might be keeping a watchful eye (or maybe two?) on the goings-on.

Look for him again on your way to the party, this time sporting a unique Second Line umbrella he’s crafted from bits and bobs he’s collected. And don’t be surprised if Mama Odie reveals Lari played a secret role in rounding up the musical critters!

Lari’s a bit of a local legend, known for his collection of treasures and his ability to build anything with them. He might have helped his fellow critters find the perfect instrument or materials to create their own musical masterpieces. Just don’t expect him to reveal his secrets – Lari’s known for having a different story for how he lost his eye (and for switching up his eye patch too!)

When creating the critters for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, the Imagineers took inspiration from real animals found in Louisiana. Armadillos are very much at home in the bayou, and a chance encounter during a research trip solidified Lari’s place in the story.

US Army Veteran Honored with Purple Heart Ceremony at Epcot

During a heartwarming ceremony held before park opening at Walt Disney World Resort on Wednesday morning, U.S. Army veteran and current Disney cast member John Arant, senior manager of casting services, was presented with the Purple Heart Medal, America’s oldest military award.

Under the rotunda of the American Adventure pavilion at EPCOT, Arant was recognized for his military valor and the injuries he sustained during active service with the U.S. Army in Mosul, Iraq, in 2007.

The Purple Heart, established in 1782 by General George Washington to recognize heroic acts performed by his troops during the Revolutionary War, is awarded today in the name of the President of the United States to acknowledge those wounded or killed while serving in the line of duty.

John received his Purple Heart from fellow cast member Jenn O’Rourke, a business transformation manager with Disney Institute who continues to serve in uniform as a Major in the U.S. Air Force Reserve.

Arant’s ceremony was attended by his family and fellow Disney cast members, including numerous military veterans. Wearing his Army service dress uniform, he was surrounded by “Portraits of Courage,” the pavilion’s current exhibit featuring more than 60 paintings created by former U.S. President George W. Bush to recognize post-9/11 military veterans.

In 2019, Arant joined The Walt Disney Company as part of the Heroes Work Here initiative, a company-wide program designed to hire, train, and support military veterans. This ceremony highlighted The Walt Disney Company’s enduring admiration for those who serve their country in uniform, a tradition that dates back to founders Walt and Roy O. Disney, who both served during the First World War.

The event, filled with pride and respect for Arant’s selfless service, exemplified Disney’s commitment to honoring the brave men and women who protect our nation. Congratulations John!

Behind-the-scenes look at Disneyland’s Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Animatronics

Get ready for a bayou filled with groundbreaking magic! Walt Disney Imagineering has revealed stunning new audio-animatronics for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, the exciting “Princess and the Frog” overhaul coming to Splash Mountain at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. These figures, including Prince Naveen, Mama Odie, and Louis the alligator, represent the most advanced animatronics ever created by Imagineering.

Disneyland’s Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is gearing up for its Anaheim debut later this year. Imagineers are putting the finishing touches on the attraction’s animatronics at their Glendale headquarters.

Get ready to see multiple sides of Tiana! Imagineering unveiled four dazzling “Tiana-matronics” showcasing her in a variety of outfits throughout the ride. One moment she’ll be leading a charming band of bayou critters, the next she’ll be presiding over a vibrant Mardi Gras celebration.

Get ready to be blown away by Louis the alligator! Imagineering offered a glimpse into his creation process, showcasing the animatronic at different stages of completion. Even with the underlying mechanics exposed, Louis’s movements were incredibly lifelike, hinting at the magic in store for riders.

Keep your eyes peeled for the wise (and sometimes mischievous) Mama Odie! This iconic voodoo priestess makes multiple appearances throughout the ride. And don’t forget her trusty companion, Juju! Watch out for this forked-tongue seeing-eye snake, who might just be eyeing a plate of beignets in one hilarious scene.

Prepare to be swept away by a cast of enchanting characters! Imagineering unveiled a treasure trove of new animatronics for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Get ready to see Tiana’s wise and supportive mother Eudora, and her bubbly best friend Charlotte La Bouff. Prince Naveen isn’t just charming anymore – catch him serenading everyone with his banjo! But the fun doesn’t stop there. We’ll also meet Naveen’s energetic younger brother, Prince Ralphie, who dreams of drumming his way into your heart. And don’t miss Byhalia the beaver, the zydeco percussionist who’ll keep the rhythm going throughout your adventure!

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Not Included for Disney World Hotel Guest Early Entry & Extended Evening Hours

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure joins the Magic Kingdom schedule! However, there are some special events where it won’t be available. Be sure to check the calendar before you go!

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure now has operating hours on the Magic Kingdom calendar, running from park open to park close,just like Splash Mountain before it.

However, there are still some details to be ironed out regarding its availability for special offerings.

Early Entry: Currently, the ride isn’t included in Early Entry for resort guests since Frontierland doesn’t open early.
Extended Evening Hours: Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is also absent from the list of attractions for Extended Evening Hours, which are offered periodically to select resort guests.
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party: While initially listed for the party, the attraction was quickly removed from the schedule.

While Disney hasn’t confirmed its inclusion, there’s still a chance it might be open for Early Entry, Extended Evening Hours, or Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. It’s likely they’re finalizing details and may announce its participation closer to the event dates.

Blue Man Group has announced plans to return to Orlando, finding a new home at ICON Park, a 20-acre entertainment destination in the heart of Orlando’s entertainment district. After a successful 14-year run that ended in 2021 due to COVID, the group took a three-year hiatus to find the perfect time and place for their comeback. The decision to return to Orlando was driven by the city’s status as a premier destination for family fun.

Jack Kenn, Managing Director of Blue Man Group, expressed excitement about the new location, highlighting Orlando’s appeal for fans. The new 500-seat theater at ICON Park’s Universal Boulevard entrance will be specially designed to enhance Blue Man Group’s multi-sensory performances, featuring state-of-the-art acoustics, lighting, and video capabilities for an immersive experience.

ICON Park President and CEO Chris Jaskiewicz welcomed the addition, noting that it aligns with ICON Park’s strategy of attracting top-tier entertainment. With its prime location and renowned entertainment brands, ICON Park is an ideal fit for Blue Man Group. The new venue is in the planning stages, with an expected opening in late 2024.

New Universal Orlando Resort License Plate Coming to Florida Later This Year

Exciting news for Universal Orlando Resort fans and Florida drivers! A brand-new Universal Orlando Resort specialty license plate is set to debut later this year, offering a unique way for fans to show their love for one of the world’s most beloved theme park destinations. This new addition comes as part of a larger initiative to expand the variety of specialty plates available to Florida residents, thanks to recent legislative actions.

Earlier this year, the Florida Senate voted unanimously on a bill, HB 403, that aimed to provide even more specialty license plate options for drivers. The bill then passed through the House by an overwhelming majority and was signed into law by Gov. Ron DeSantis. Set to go into effect on October 1, the new law directs the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles to design a range of specialty plates, including those themed around Universal Orlando Resort and Margaritaville, among others.

Florida already boasts nearly 150 specialty license plates, allowing drivers to show off their favorite causes, universities, sports teams, and even Disney World. The new Universal Orlando Resort plate will join this diverse lineup, giving fans a fresh and exciting way to celebrate their love for the resort. Each plate costs an additional $15 to $25 a year, with a portion of the proceeds supporting various organizations. Specifically, funds from the Universal Orlando Resort plate will go to the Give Kids The World nonprofit, which provides week-long, cost-free vacations to children with critical illnesses and their families.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Virtual Queue Fills Up Instantly on Opening Day

Excitement for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure reached a fever pitch this morning as the virtual queue for the Magic Kingdom’s newest attraction filled up in mere seconds. The queue opened at 7 am, with the park already at capacity for Annual Passholders, though date-based ticket holders still had a chance to secure a spot.

Despite the limited availability, the 7 am virtual queue distribution reached capacity in under 3 seconds, a testament to the anticipation surrounding the attraction. This lightning-fast fill rate is not unusual for virtual queue attractions, as similar experiences have been observed for TRON Lightcycle Run and Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind.

However, hopeful guests shouldn’t despair. A second virtual queue opportunity will open at 1 pm, giving those who missed out this morning another chance to experience the magic of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

Based on previews held for Annual Passholders, the estimated progression rate for boarding groups is approximately 5 minutes per group. This suggests that the virtual queue system will allow for efficient and steady boarding throughout the day, ensuring that guests can experience the attraction without excessive wait times.

As Tiana’s Bayou Adventure officially opens its doors to the public, it’s clear that this immersive new experience is already a hit among Disney fans. With its captivating storyline, vibrant atmosphere, and innovative ride technology, the attraction is poised to become a new favorite for guests of all ages.
