Disney Files Patent for Floating Pram Inspired by ‘The Mandalorian’
Disney has filed a patent for a flying pram that will bring The Mandalorian to life. The patent for “Airframe of a volitant body” was filed by Disney back in 2020, not long after the Mandalorian was released. The patent which was published last month reads:
“Systems, methods, and apparatuses for an airframe of a volitant body are presented herein. An apparatus may include a body having a normal axis. The body comprising a central air passage communicating through the body along the normal axis of the body. The central air passage may have an inlet at a first end of the body and an outlet at a second end of the body, the second end being opposite the first end.”
“The central air passage may form an interior surface of the body. The central air passage permitting a flow of air through the body via the central air passage. The inlet may be formed to produce a Venturi effect in the flow of air passing through the central air passage from the inlet to the outlet by choking the flow of air at the inlet.”
An interior surface defining a central air passage communicating through the body along the normal axis of the body, the interior surface being formed such that a flow of air is permitted through the body via the central air passage;
An air inlet at a first end of the body and an air outlet at a second end of the body, the second end being opposite the first end, wherein the air inlet tapers from a wide end to a narrow end, the wide end being at the first end of the body, the narrow end being opposite the wide end;
A portion of the interior surface which starts at the narrow end of the air inlet and terminates at an opening of the outlet, the portion of the interior surface defining a constricted section of the central air passage;

a set of side airflow passages evenly spaced around the body, wherein individual side airflow passages are disposed substantially orthogonal to the normal axis, the individual side airflow passages having individual side inlets at the exterior curved surface of the body which follow a contour of the exterior curved surface, the individual side airflow passages having individual side outlets at the portion of the interior surface such that the individual side outlets open into the constricted section of the central air passage, such that the individual side airflow passages permit individual flows of air from an ambient environment into the constricted section of the central air passage.

Elite Women’s College Basketball Tournament Coming to Walt Disney World
Exciting news is on the horizon for women’s college basketball enthusiasts as a new event is set to grace the courts of ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort. The 2024 Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Showcase is poised to captivate fans with a thrilling four-team tournament taking place from November 21 to 23, followed by two additional games on November 24. All six exhilarating matchups will unfold at the State Farm Field House, nestled within the renowned Disney sports complex.
The announcement of this prestigious tournament was made by WBCA Executive Director Danielle Donehew, Disney’s Director of Sports Planning and Development Jorge Senior, and the University of South Florida women’s basketball head coach and WBCA Vice President Jose Fernandez. This momentous occasion marks the inception of a promising partnership between ESPN Wide World of Sports and the esteemed WBCA, promising an unforgettable showcase of talent and competition.

Several of the best teams in the country are expected to compete in the event, including the University of Louisville, which has been ranked among the Associated Press Top 20 this season. Louisville will face South Florida in the Nov. 24 game, which will count toward both teams’ regular season records.

The WBCA event marks the return of women’s college hoops to Walt Disney World, which previously hosted the Honda Elite 4 Holiday Classic from 1998-2000. That Division I college women’s basketball tournament featured some of the most successful teams in college basketball history, including UConn, Notre Dame, UNC and Penn State.
This weekend, March 16-17, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay’s Food & Wine Festival is the hotspot with performances by Tauren Wells and Sister Hazel. Tauren Wells, a Grammy-nominated artist blending gospel, pop, and R&B, hits the stage on March 16 at 7 pm. The following night, enjoy the classic 90s vibes of Sister Hazel, known for their hit “All for You,” performing at 6 pm. Disney Aquatic Wildlife Experts Partner on Special Mission to Save Florida’s Coral Reefs
Not far from the picturesque beaches of Florida, the destiny of the state’s coral reefs is being shaped in Central Florida, just a short distance from the Walt Disney World Resort. Over the last four years, a dedicated team of aquatic wildlife specialists from Disney has collaborated with conservationists on a critical mission to rescue Florida’s coral reefs. These reefs are under threat from the fast-growing expansion of stony coral tissue loss disease (SCTLD), endangering 22 species of coral with extinction.
The Orlando-based Florida Coral Rescue Center (FCRC) is a cutting-edge facility dedicated to nurturing hundreds of corals most vulnerable to SCTLD. Experts have noted that the disease has escalated into quite a crisis, now affecting all of Florida’s coral reefs and spreading to other areas globally. The corals at FCRC are set to be a cornerstone in the forthcoming efforts to rejuvenate Florida’s coral reef ecosystem. The breeding program is focused on ensuring genetic diversity of offspring and will provide the as many as thousands of baby corals required to restore the reef.
Disney is at the forefront as one of the accredited groups spearheading efforts and contributing funding to the facility while collaborating on coral conservation efforts with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). Since its inauguration in 2020, the FCRC has played a pivotal role, offering a secure and controlled environment where over 500 coral colonies are afforded top-tier care by a team of scientific professionals.

Construction is still ongoing on the west end of the Downtown Disney District at the Disneyland Resort. Buildings have been demolished and work is underway on new restaurants and guest areas.
The walls up around the former AMC theater area show concept art for what is to come to Downtown Disney. The space behind the walls will soon be home to the new Din Tai Fung restaurant, a new Earl of Sandwich location, other shops, a stage for musical guests and a grassy area for special events.
Another part of the wall also shows a look back at Downtown Disney through the years. There are images from the 1950s, 1960s, and 2000s.
The upcoming spaces draw inspiration from the mid-century space age aesthetic, a trend that thrived in California during the 1950s and ’60s.
While this initiative has been gradually advancing over the past few years, Disneyland Resort President Ken Potrock recently announced an anticipated completion timeframe of 18 months. This projection suggests that the District will fully showcase its revitalized appearance by the end of 2024.
The ongoing enhancements to the resort’s entertainment, shopping, and dining hub represent just a tiny fraction of the broader initiatives tied to the DisneylandForward program. This extensive, multi-year public planning endeavor aims to chart the course for the next thirty years of development in collaboration with the City of Anaheim and Orange County.

Pixar Fest is coming to the Disneyland Resort next month! From April 26 through August 4 guests can celebrate friendship and beyond with many all-new offerings, plus some returning favorites with special new enhancements!
New ‘Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration!’ Parade at Disney California Adventure Park
Dynamic and colorful floats will make their way through Disney California Adventure park twice per day in the new “Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration!” parade from Disney Live Entertainment, with high-energy dancing and appearances by more than two dozen Pixar characters. You’ll spot Red Panda Mei and her friends rocking out to their favorite boy band, 4*Town; Joe Gardner and 22 from “Soul” celebrating the sweeter things in life; Luca, Alberto and Giulia from “Luca” enjoying their time together on the water’s edge in Portorosso; and more. The grand finale will feature Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl from “The Incredibles,” Miguel from “Coco,” Mike and Sulley from “Monsters, Inc.,” and Woody, Jessie and Buzz Lightyear from “Toy Story.”
‘Together Forever – A Pixar Nighttime Spectacular’ at Disneyland Park
“Together Forever – A Pixar Nighttime Spectacular” will return to Disneyland park with some all-new scenes from the creative teams at Disney Live Entertainment and Pixar. Celebrating the heart of Pixar storytelling, this nighttime spectacular will take you on an emotional journey of friendship with Pixar pals as they meet for the first time, set out on adventures, overcome adversity and in the end, forge everlasting bonds. In addition to iconic moments from the original production — like Miguel strumming his guitar and Carl and Ellie’s house floating above Sleeping Beauty Castle — you’ll also see new scenes added featuring characters and moments from Pixar’s “Onward,” “Soul,” “Luca,” “Turning Red” and “Elemental” brought to life like never before.
Vivid projections, colorful lasers and memorable music can be enjoyed from multiple locations throughout Disneyland, including the Rivers of America, the façade of “it’s a small world” and Main Street, U.S.A. And on most evenings, fireworks will illuminate the sky with this beloved show.
Bonus: During “Together Forever – A Pixar Nighttime Spectacular,” your MagicBand+ will come to life with twinkling lights and vibrations synchronized to the music.
Club Pixar at the Hollywood Backlot in Disney California Adventure Park
During the day at the Hollywood Backlot, you can snap a photo in front of Pixar-themed backdrops, play games and maybe even encounter a favorite character to pose with.When day turns to night, Club Pixar will take over the area for a nighttime party, inspired by the amazing stories from Pixar Animation Studios. Your whole group can enjoy an interactive DJ dance party, live performances, exciting games, photo opportunities, themed food, specially crafted beverages and more.
Pixar Pals Playtime Party at Fantasyland Theatre in Disneyland Park
Throughout the day, the whole family can dance and play the Pixar way with some favorite pals at the Pixar Pals Playtime Party at Fantasyland Theatre in Disneyland park. Get into the groove at a high-energy show, enjoy interactive games, photo locations and activities inspired by Pixar feature films, and even watch a selection of iconic shorts on the big screen.
Pixar-Themed Foods and Marketplaces
Foodies, get ready for Pixar-inspired food and beverages available around the resort! Though we can’t share all details on all the treats just yet, we’ve got an early look at an item you can start dreaming about – the iconic Pixar Fest cake will return to Plaza Inn!
New this year, the menu at Troubadour Tavern in Disneyland park will transform to feature Pixar-inspired bites and beverages. And once again, Paradise Garden Grill in Disney California Adventure park will serve “Coco”-inspired menu items.
You’ll also want to mark your calendars because beginning May 10, six Pixar-themed marketplaces will join the fun in Disney California Adventure park and be available through the length of the festival. Each location celebrates a unique film, and menu items will transport you and your tastebuds right into some fan-favorite Pixar worlds. Here’s a little flavor of what you can expect:
