Bob Iger Thanks Shareholders for their Trust at 2024 Annual Meeting of Shareholders
The Walt Disney Company today announced that its full 12-member Board of Directors has been re-elected by a substantial margin, based on preliminary vote tallies from the 2024 Annual Meeting of Shareholders. Disney’s nominees prevailed over those proposed by Trian and Blackwells. Final results are subject to certification but will be released by the Company in the coming days.
Mark Parker, Chairman of the Board, expressed gratitude to shareholders for their support during a period of change and underlined the Board’s qualifications and commitment to succession planning.
Bob Iger, CEO of the Walt Disney Company, thanked shareholders for their trust and stated that the focus can now fully return to growth, shareholder value creation, and creative excellence, with the proxy battle concluded.
New Teaser Trailer for Descendants: The Rise of Red
Calling all Descendants fans! Disney+ just dropped a fiery new teaser for “Descendants: The Rise of Red!” Premiering on Disney+ July 12th, this new chapter is sure to heat up summer by bringing back the beloved story of good versus evil with a fresh twist.
This time, we meet Red, the rebellious daughter of the villainous Queen of Hearts, and Chloe, the picture-perfect daughter of Cinderella. Despite their contrasting personalities, they’ll have to team up to travel back in time and prevent a pivotal event that turned the Queen of Hearts down a dark path.

Nelson Peltz (CEO of Trian Fund Management), supported by former Marvel Entertainment Chairman Ike Perlmutter, began his battle for Disney board seats in early 2023. After a brief pause, the proxy fight resumed in the fall. Peltz nominated himself and former Disney CFO Jay Rasulo, but Disney rejected this move and tightened the nomination process. This sparked the official proxy battle.
Blackwells Capital joined the fray in early 2024, seeking board seats for three candidates. In response, Disney put forward its existing board members plus recent additions James P. Gorman and Jeremy Darroch, aiming to displace Peltz’s nominees.
Escalating Tactics
Disney and CEO Bob Iger launched a fierce campaign, urging shareholders to back their candidates. Tactics included personal appeals, a letter touting their progress, and even attack ads.
Peltz blamed Disney’s financial woes on the existing board and proposed bundling ESPN+ with another streamer. His strategy called for a board-led review of Disney’s creative process.
Blackwells advocated a radical split of Disney into three segments and the use of AI for character development.
Battle of Influence
Influential proxy advisor ISS backed Peltz’s nomination (but not his other candidates nor those from Blackwells). However, Glass Lewis sided with Disney and Iger. Major investors like BlackRock and T. Rowe Price also reportedly supported Disney, alongside public figures like George Lucas and the Disney family descendants.

Changes are afoot at Universal Orlando’s CityWalk entertainment complex. Two familiar faces, Cinnabon and Quiet Flight Surf Shop, are set to permanently close their doors this month to pave the way for “exciting new experiences,” according to a recent announcement by Universal.
Cinnabon devotees can breathe a sigh of relief. While their current location will shutter on April 28th, Universal confirms Cinnabon will be relocating within CityWalk. In the interim, guests can satisfy their cravings for Cinnabon’s signature cinnamon rolls at Fresh Eats in the security hub, with additional carts rumored to be popping up around CityWalk. A dedicated Cinnabon kiosk near Margaritaville is also reportedly in the works for the coming months.
Surfers seeking beach apparel and gear will need to find a new destination, as Quiet Flight Surf Shop will be catching its last wave on April 14th.
Universal is remaining tight-lipped on the official replacements, but rumors are swirling online. The buzz suggests a potential Super Nintendo World retail location could be taking over the combined space, expanding the existing Universal Studios Store and offering a treasure trove of themed merchandise in anticipation of the new Super Nintendo World land opening at Epic Universe next year.
While details on the replacements for Cinnabon and Quiet Flight remain under wraps, there is confirmed news for the former Universal Legacy Store location. This space is gearing up for liftoff as an interactive preview center for the highly anticipated Epic Universe theme park!

Guests staying at The Westin Anaheim Resort can now enjoy poolside refreshments at Bella’s Splash Pool Bar. This family-friendly bar offers daily service from noon to 6PM. The resort’s outdoor heated pool and whirlpool are also open daily from 6AM to 10PM for guests to relax and unwind.
Spring Snacks Served Poolside: Bellaโs Splash Pool Bar offers a freshly prepared food menu including chips and salsa, avocado toast, Caesar salad, and chicken salad club wraps. For heartier options, guests can order the Bella Burger, quesadillas, or a grilled chicken sandwich. Families can also select kid-friendly favorites: margherita pizza, four-cheese pizza, and pepperoni pizza, all available with a gluten-free crust.
Refreshing Spring Sips: Bellaโs Splash Pool Bar serves colorful, crafted cocktails directly to poolside guests. Beverage options include the Tangerine Mojito, the Smokey Mezcal Margarita and Bellaโs Bloody Mary. Incredicoaster at Disney California Adventure Closing for Refurbishment this Month
The Incredicoaster at Disney California Adventure reopened last month after being closed for a weeks-long refurbishment. While the ride did reopen, not all issues were fixed so the ride will be closing again this month for another refurbishment.
The Disneyland website does not list any operating hours for the Incredicoaster from April 8 through April 18, 2024. The ride is set to reopen on April 19.
We don’t know exactly what the refurbishment will be for but when we were there last month, the ride vehicles were having issues with the audio. A cast member told us the audio was being finnicky and some days it would work while others it would go out. That part of the ride does not affect the overall operation of the attraction but does add to the experience.
