The Carthay Circle Spooky Tree Flight is back! This second edition features the Halloween Appletini, launching September 5th at Carthay Circle Restaurant.

As we head into autumn, the summer box office is still heating up, thanks to the enduring popularity of Disney/Pixar’s Inside Out 2. This heartwarming animated sequel has not only captivated audiences worldwide but has also made history!
Inside Out 2 has now surpassed The Lion King to become the 9th highest-grossing movie ever. Its total global box office earnings have reached a staggering $1.667 billion. This remarkable achievement is a testament to the film’s universal appeal and its ability to connect with audiences of all ages.
Inside Out 2 isn’t the only film making waves. Alien: Romulus and It Ends with Us are both closing in on $300 million, while Despicable Me 4 has already crossed the $900 million mark. It seems like audiences can’t get enough of both heartwarming dramas and hilarious animated adventures.
Animated films have always been a box office powerhouse, and Inside Out 2 is just the latest example. Its success shows that there’s a universal appeal to well-crafted stories that can make us laugh, cry, and think. Disney announcd back at Destination D23 in 2023 that the DinoLand USA area at Disney’s Animal Kingdom was on the chopping block, with the land set to be transformed into a ‘Tropical Americas’ experience that would contain attractions and theming from both the Encanto and Indiana Jones Franchises. The area has sat with little work ever since, and many guests began to wonder if the renovation was ever going to move forward. Disney confirmed the renovation is still a go during the D23 event last month in California, and new permits have now been filed to begin the work.
Three permits in total were recently filed for work on backstage areas, with all three permits assigned to Buena Vista Construction (a construction company owned and operated by Disney). Three seperate backstage buildings were listed on the permit, with the phrasing on the permits essentially pointing toward any type of general construction work, including electrical, labor, and/or materials.
While these permits are a bit generic in detail and do not provide specific details on exactly what work is being performed, it is exciting to see the Tropical Americas expansion finally moving forward. Once completed, the land will be the home of two new attraction: an Indiana Jones ride and an “Encanto”-themed experience. Indiana Jones will take over the current Dinosaur attraction, while the Encanto attraction will require a significant show building based on the model presented at D23. Tropical Americas is expected to open by 2027.
(Not-Really) Breaking news: it gets HOT in Florida, especially in August-early September. Waiting in line for an attraction at Disney’s Magic Kingdom can be brutal, especially for line queues that utilize a lot of outdoor space. Disney is seemingly taking steps to help address this heat by adding new fans to the line queue at Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
The fans are tall upright fans that actually contain two built-in fans, one blowing to the left and one to the right. The fans are pretty powerful, and their setup allows folks on both sides of them to get a bit of respite from the heat.
We noted two of these fans in the queue for Tiana’s. While these two fans were obviously not enough to cool the entire area, they were a nice surprise on a hot day. We hope Disney continues to install these throughout the resort to help guests face the Florida heat!
Guests attempting to utilize the accessible parking area at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom often found themselves struggling to find a parking spot, as the number of spaces have historically been limited and filled quickly. Disney has addressed these concerns by adding an entire new section of accessible parking to the Zurg parking area.
The accessible parking expansion is located directly to the East of the original accessible parking area. The addition was placed in an area that previously contained Prime parking spots, and had traditionally been used as a defacto ‘overflow’ area for those seeking to use accessible parking but found the lot full.
The transformation of the previous parking spaces in this area to accessible parking ensures there are additional spots for those utilizing a lift van, ensuring all guests have the access needed to enjoy a magical day at Disney’s Magic Kingdom.
