Disney’s Palm Golf Course to Host Second Annual PGA Family Golf Championship with Exciting New Enhancements

Golfers, families, and Disney fans alike are in for a treat next week as Disney’s Palm Golf Course gears up to host the second annual PGA Family Golf Championship. This year’s event will showcase a fresh twist, offering one of the most challenging and authentic putting surfaces in the area—thanks to a stunning makeover of the practice putting green. The new 18-hole grass putting course is designed with contouring and elevation changes, promising an elevated experience for golfers of all levels.

This new attraction is just one of the many exciting updates coming from Arnold Palmer Golf Management, which operates the Walt Disney World® Golf courses. The makeover not only offers a visually striking layout, but also gives golfers a fresh challenge each time they play. Hole locations are changed weekly, and the lengths and difficulty levels are adjusted daily, keeping the experience fun and unpredictable.

“We wanted to create something truly unique, and the feedback from our guests has been fantastic,” says Bruce Gerlander, PGA General Manager at Walt Disney World Golf. “This course is both serious and fun, bringing out the competitive edge in players while also offering a lot of enjoyment.”

The PGA Family Golf Championship, which runs from September 27-29, 2024, is the perfect showcase for this new course. Open to teams of 2-4 players who are biologically or legally related, the championship allows families to come together and enjoy the game of golf in a beautiful, family-friendly setting. The newly enhanced putting green will serve as the backdrop for the tournament’s welcome reception, giving competitors a first look at the upgrades.

According to John Lindert, PGA President, “The PGA Family Golf Championship highlights how families can create lifelong memories through golf. Hosting this event at Disney’s Palm Golf Course makes it extra special, adding a magical touch to the game we love.”

A Golf Experience Tailored for Everyone

Walt Disney World Golf offers world-class options for golfers of all ages and skill levels, with courses open 365 days a year. Visitors can choose from the championship layouts at Disney’s Palm, Magnolia, and Lake Buena Vista Golf Courses, or opt for the nine-hole, family-friendly Oak Trail Golf Course. For non-golfers, the rising sport of FootGolf is also available, blending soccer and golf into an entertaining hybrid that’s growing in popularity.

Walt Disney World Resort guests staying at select hotels can also take advantage of complimentary transportation to and from the golf courses, ensuring that the entire experience is seamless from start to finish. Plus, the resort offers TaylorMade equipment and Adidas golf shoes for rent, so travelers don’t have to worry about packing their own gear.

A Closer Look at the Courses

Disney’s Palm Golf Course: Redesigned in 2013 by Arnold Palmer Design Company, this course blends natural beauty with a challenging layout. With shimmering lakes, tropical sands, and majestic palm trees, it’s a golfer’s paradise.
Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course: The longest course at Walt Disney World, the Magnolia is undergoing a major redesign, set to be fully revealed in early 2025. The course’s magnolia-lined fairways and elevation changes will be complemented by newly enhanced greens and an exciting reconfiguration of several holes.
Disney’s Lake Buena Vista Golf Course: Winding through Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa and Disney’s Old Key West Resort, this classic course is known for its challenging doglegs and the iconic Mickey Mouse bunker added to the ninth green.
Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course: Perfect for families and casual golfers, Oak Trail offers a picturesque nine-hole walking course. This course also features FootGolf, a fun twist that combines soccer with traditional golf, available on select afternoons.

EPCOT Extends Theme Park Hours for 2024 Festival of the Holidays!

Get ready for more holiday magic at EPCOT this year! Starting November 29, 2024, EPCOT will extend its theme park hours to 9:00 AM to 9:30 PM to kick off the beloved EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays. This extra 30 minutes gives guests more time to soak up all the holiday cheer that the festival brings to the park. And for those lucky enough to enjoy Early Entry or Extended Evening Hours, you’ll have even more time, with hours stretching from 8:30 AM to 11:30 PM on select days!

This shift in operating hours follows the changes first introduced in 2023, where EPCOT’s holiday season closing time was shortened from 10:00 PM to 9:30 PM. The 2024 extension aims to align perfectly with the Festival of the Holidays, which runs from November 29 to December 30, 2024.

The Festival of the Holidays is a magical celebration of global holiday traditions, featuring exciting performances, festive food, and special seasonal experiences. Here’s what you can look forward to:

🎄 Candlelight Processional: A moving retelling of the Christmas story, complete with a celebrity narrator, a massed choir, and a 50-piece orchestra. This is an EPCOT holiday tradition you won’t want to miss.

‘Reach for the Stars,’ a stunning new nighttime projection show, is now captivating audiences at Tokyo Disneyland.

Tokyo Disneyland first announced the new show in January, revealing its name, ‘Reach for the Stars,’ in June. This captivating experience combines stunning castle projections with dazzling lights and pyrotechnics.

“Reach for the Stars” brings Disney “characters to life as they soar through the night sky in pursuit of their dreams.” Tokyo Disney Resort released this description:

“Beyond the distant sky,
There was a sparkling castle above the clouds.
It’s a dream-like place where many stories dwell.
Now, let yourself be carried by the winds of freedom,
Spread the wings of imagination,
And let’s soar to the world of dreams!
Reach for the Stars!”

The enchanting nighttime spectacle features projections of beloved Disney characters, including Tinker Bell, Hercules, Pegasus, Dumbo, Carl Frederickson and his house from “Up,” Aladdin and Jasmine on the Magic Carpet, WALL-E and Eve, Baymax and Hiro, and Woody and Buzz Lightyear.

For the first time ever at Tokyo Disney Resort, Marvel superheroes like Iron Man and Captain Marvel also take center stage. Additionally, characters from “Mary Poppins,” “Inside Out,” “Sleeping Beauty,” and more join the magical display.

This stunning new nighttime spectacular lasts for 20 minutes and is performed once or twice daily. Guests can also opt for Disney Premier Access to enjoy the show with priority seating.

NEW Disney Treasure Exclusive DisneyBand+ Design Revealed

Disney Cruise Line has revealed that guests aboard the Disney Treasure will have the opportunity to purchase a unique DisneyBand+ design.

The Disney Treasure-themed DisneyBand+ features a striking white and dark blue design with aqua-blue waves. The Disney Treasure logo adorns one side, while the other showcases artwork of the ship. Guests with early Disney Treasure sailings can preview this exclusive band online now. The band is $44.99.

The DisneyBand+ is the Disney Cruise Line equivalent of the MagicBand+. These versatile bands can be used to access your stateroom, link photos, and disembark the ship. You can purchase them before your cruise or onboard. Please note that the Disney Treasure design will be available in limited quantities.

The Disney Treasure recently departed the Meyer Werft shipyard and is set to embark on its maiden voyage in December. This new ship boasts the same size and layout as its predecessor, the Disney Wish, which launched in 2022. Both vessels have a gross tonnage of 144,000 and offer 1,246 staterooms. The final stateroom was installed on the Treasure in July.

The Disney Treasure will introduce several exciting new features. Guests can look forward to the first-ever Haunted Mansion Parlor, a new Broadway-style show titled “Disney Tale of Moana,” and the Plaza de Coco, a “Coco”-themed restaurant. 🌟 Dory: Female-identifying, quirky and optimistic. Dory’s forgetful charm and comedic timing are key, so if you love making people laugh, get ready to dive into this role!

🌟 Bruce: Male-identifying, the misunderstood vegetarian shark. He’s got a big personality with rockstar energy, and a comedic baritone voice. Can you go from tough to tender in a heartbeat? Bruce is your shark!

🌟 Crush: Male-identifying, the chill “surfer dude” turtle. Crush is a wise father with an effortlessly cool vibe. If you can hit a high C and ride the musical waves like a pro, you’ll totally be the turtle we need, dude! 🐢

🌟 Marlin: Male-identifying, overprotective but loving father. Baritone voice with strong comedic chops. If you can play vulnerable and brave at the same time, you’re perfect to help bring Marlin to life.

🌟 Gill: Male-identifying, tough, wise, and full of history. He’s seen it all and has the scars to prove it. If you’ve got a baritone voice and can pull off the “wounded hero” vibe, Gill’s the role for you.

Disney is also casting for a diverse ensemble to help bring the underwater world to life. Ensemble performers will use a variety of puppetry styles, including rod and bunraku puppetry, to help tell this magical story.

Submit Your Profile: Head to Disney Auditions to create or update your performer profile and upload your audition video link (YouTube is preferred). Show them 16 bars of your best song and let your storytelling shine!

On a recent visit to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the Chip and Co. team stopped by Dino-Bite Snacks in DinoLand U.S.A. to try their famous Dino Dig Ice Cream Sandwich, and it did not disappoint! This delightful treat, priced at $8.29, features creamy vanilla ice cream sandwiched between two house-made sugar cookies. The soft and fresh cookies were a perfect contrast to the cool ice cream, and we couldn’t get enough of the fun dinosaur theming.

Disney World’s Florida License Plate Raises $3 Million for Make-A-Wish

Walt Disney World has just hit a magical milestone! The specialty Florida license plate, featuring Disney’s iconic Cinderella Castle, has raised an incredible $3 million for Make-A-Wish® Central and Northern Florida. With 100% of the proceeds going directly to this life-changing charity, every plate sold is helping make dreams come true for children with critical illnesses—and the impact is truly heartwarming.

Make-A-Wish Central and Northern Florida President & CEO Anne Cuba expressed the power of this program best: “My heart lights up every time I drive because I see so many Disney license plates and know the impact. $3 million can bring so much happiness and hope to families in need.” Thanks to this tremendous support, more than 300 Florida families have already experienced unforgettable wish trips and life-changing moments.
