Universal Orlando is continuing to make progress on its highly anticipated Epic Universe Preview Center. Located in the former home of the Universal Orlando Legacy Store, which closed earlier this year, the Preview Center is set to offer guests a tantalizing glimpse into the future of the park’s latest expansion.
While much of the work is being done behind construction walls, the erection of a large steel support structure above the entry door is evident from the exterior. The structure is currently covered with scaffolding, hinting at the fact we may discover what exactly this support structure will be used for very soon.
While Universal Orlando has not confirmed an exact opening date, they have announced that the Preview Center will open in 2024. This center promises to be a must-visit destination for theme park enthusiasts, offering a sneak peek into the wonders that Epic Universe will bring. As anticipation grows, fans eagerly await further updates and the chance to step inside the Preview Center to get a closer look at what’s to come in Universal’s most ambitious project yet.
Universal Studios Florida has unveiled a new sign for the iconic E.T. Adventure attraction. Installed on May 16, the sign maintains the beloved imagery of Elliott and E.T. flying past the moon with a forest backdrop behind the “E.T. Adventure” text. While the design remains faithful to the original, the new sign features flat lettering, an update from the previous three-dimensional effect.
The new design also features larger lettering for the attraction’s name, providing a cleaner and more modern look. The installation of the new sign coincided with the reopening of the E.T. Adventure on May 16, following a brief closure for refurbishment that began on May 5.
Originally opening in 1990 as an opening-day attraction at Universal Studios Florida, E.T. Adventure has been a cornerstone of the park, enchanting guests for over three decades. DreamWorks Land, an all-new section of Universal Studios Florida that is housed in the former Woody Woodpecker’s KidZone, will open to guests on June 14. We were invited by Universal last night to take a sneak peek of the new land, and we have our first impressions ready to share with you!
DreamworksLand is packed full of a myriad of fun attractions and experiences. The land leans heavily into character meet-and-greets, with only one ride (Trollercoaster) calling the land home. When you enter the land, you are immediately immersed in Shrek’s Swamp, with Shrek and Donkey available for a chat and photos.
Beyond Shrek and Donkey, the land opens into a fun play area for kids, as well as Pinocchio’s Fact Shack. Everyone’s favorite wooden boy has taken up residence inside a treehouse in Shrek’s Swamp and will tell you a ‘fact’ when you ring his doorbell (keep an eye on his nose to see if this fact is true or not!).
The land contains plenty of water-play areas to keep kids cool during the hot Florida summers, with the first play area situated right inside Shrek’s swamp.
Beyond Shrek’s Swamp you will encounter the Trolls section, complete with a Poppy and Branch meet and greet, troll fountain, and the rollercoaster! We were able to take a spin on the Trollercoaster, and have an on-ride POV for you to review. The ride is short but fun, making it the perfect first coaster for the young guests in your party.
Beyond the troll area you will encounter Po’s Kung Fu Panda Training Camp. We were incredibly impressed with the level of detail contained in this land, which includes several water play areas and other fun activities to help the budding Kung Fu experts in your party train with Po himself.
The back section of this section of the land contains one of the coolest elements of DreamWorks land, Po! Live. This digital experience allows you to interact with Po as he prepares some dinner and teaches you a bit of Kung Fu. Like Donkey, the interaction here is fun and engaging and perfect for kids of all ages!
The most unexpected surprise for us is how much we enjoyed the DreamWorks Imagination Celebration!
The show is incredibly fun and engaging, taking you right into the stories from your favorite DreamWorks films including Shrek, Trolls, and Kung Fu Panda.
This has quickly become a must-do show for us during trips to Universal Studios Florida!
Overall, we are VERY impressed with how detailed and immersive this new DreamWorks land is. While many longtime Universal fans were a bit sad to see Woody Woodpecker’s KidZone go, one step inside of this land will certainly ease that pain. The variety of character interactions, play areas, and activities will keep kids of all ages occupied for hours.

Disney recently unveiled a new lineup of busses to support the Walt DIsney World internal transportation system, and we recently spotted and all-new Figment-themed bus at the Fort Wilderness Campground!
Figment, the beloved purple dragon from Epcot’s Journey Into Imagination, is the star of this whimsical new bus design. Unlike some of the other new buses that feature full wraps, this one sports a striking large Figment head in the center, framed by vibrant pink, purple, and yellow stripes along the bottom half.
Inside, the Figment bus has several notable upgrades when compared to the older Disney buses, including theater-style seating and a new latch system to securely accommodate guests in wheelchairs and ECVs, ensuring a safe and inclusive experience for all.
FX, Hulu Explore More Seasons of Shogun with James Clavell Estate
Attention, Shogun fans! The critically acclaimed miniseries might be getting an extension. Variety reports that FX, Hulu, and the estate of James Clavell, author of the source novel, are collaborating to develop two additional seasons of the show.
This summer, a writers’ room will be assembled to flesh out the potential storylines for these new seasons. However, it’s important to note that this doesn’t guarantee an official renewal. No production schedule has been set for these additional episodes.
Familiar Faces Returning:
The good news? Series co-creators Justin Marks and Rachel Kondo, along with executive producer Michaela Clavell (representing the James Clavell estate) and star/producer Hiroyuki Sanada, are all still attached to the project.
This development follows earlier reports hinting at a potential second season after the success of the first installment. The consideration of submitting the show for the drama series category at the Emmys, rather than limited series, also fueled speculation about FX’s long-term plans for Shogun.
Stay tuned for further updates! While an official greenlight hasn’t been announced, these discussions offer a promising glimpse into Shogun’s potential future.
