Disney World Testing Reusable Dinnerware at Quick Service Restaurant
Walt Disney World is taking steps toward sustainability by testing plastic reusable dinnerware at counter service dining locations. This is part of an effort to reduce the use of paper products.
Walt Disney World is testing plastic reusable cups and mugs at Satu’li Canteen in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The test includes two sizes of clear cups and a tan and brown mug. If successful, these items could be rolled out across the entire park. Regular plastic and paper cups are still available for now.
What do you think of quick service restaurants getting reusable dinnerware?
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Debuts 2 New Lackluster Cupcakes
Disney’s Animal Kingdom has two new cupcakes: Simba from ‘The Lion King’ and a zebra. Zuri’s Sweets Shop, just across from Harambe Market and next to Ziwani Traders, is the place to find these delicious cupcakes. The shop is open from park open to close and serves a wide selection of baked goods and sweets.
Vanilla and Chocolate Striped Cupcake topped with Green Buttercream Frosting and a White Chocolatey Zebra piece – $6.29
Despite its cute appearance, the cupcake’s cake was disappointingly dry and lacked flavor. The striped interior was a pleasant surprise, but the excessive sweetness of the frosting overshadowed everything else.
Disney World Waives Hotel Change & Cancellation Fees Due to Hurricane Milton
Walt Disney World has announced that it will waive cancellation and change fees for guests with reservations at its resort hotels due to Hurricane Milton. This means that guests affected by the hurricane can cancel or modify their plans without incurring any additional charges.
“Due to potential weather impacts to guest travel plans, change and cancellation fees imposed by Disney will be waived for check-in dates of Sunday, 10/6 – Saturday, 10/12.
Most room-only and vacation packages can be modified, or canceled online, including changes to travel dates, without fees. Packages including air transportation or other services provided by third parties, or those with travel protection, cannot be modified or canceled online. For Guests with these reservations please call for assistance.”
Guests with stays at Walt Disney World resort hotels between October 6 and 12 will have their cancellation and change fees waived due to Hurricane Milton. The hurricane is currently projected to make landfall in Florida later this week as a category 3.
This waiver is in addition to the standard hurricane policy, which allows guests to modify or cancel their reservations if a hurricane warning is issued for Orlando within seven days of their check-in date. While a hurricane warning is not currently in effect for Walt Disney World, Orange County, where the resort is located, is included under the State of Emergency declared by Governor DeSantis.
Hurricane Milton Threatens Florida: Theme Parks on Alert
Tropical Storm Milton has officially strengthened into Hurricane Milton, escalating concerns as it barrels towards Florida’s west coast. With sustained winds reaching 80 mph, the storm is projected to intensify further and potentially make landfall as a major hurricane by midweek.
The National Hurricane Center has adjusted the storm’s predicted path southward, with current projections indicating a landfall near Tampa on Wednesday. However, the storm’s trajectory remains somewhat uncertain, leaving a large swath of Florida’s coastline under threat.
Orange County, home to both Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort, has declared a State of Emergency in anticipation of the hurricane’s impact. While both theme parks are currently operating under normal conditions, they are closely monitoring the situation and taking precautionary measures.
Walt Disney World has temporarily halted new hotel reservations and blocked theme park reservations for Wednesday, October 9th. The resort released a statement emphasizing their commitment to the safety of guests and cast members, stating: “Walt Disney World Resort is currently operating under normal conditions. We are closely monitoring the path of the projected storm as we continue to prioritize the safety of our Guests and Cast Members.”
Uncertainty Looms
The exact impact of Hurricane Milton on central Florida remains to be seen. The storm’s intensity and track could shift in the coming days, potentially bringing heavy rainfall, strong winds, and flooding to the region. Residents and visitors are urged to stay informed and prepared as the situation evolves.
We will continue to provide updates on Hurricane Milton’s progress and any operational changes announced by Walt Disney World or Universal Orlando. For the latest information, please refer to the National Hurricane Center and official resort channels.
Walt Disney World Issues Statement on Hurricane Milton
As Hurricane Milton intensifies and heads toward Florida, Walt Disney World Resort has issued a statement to reassure guests that they are closely monitoring the storm’s progress. The storm is forecasted to strengthen into a major hurricane, potentially affecting Central Florida by midweek, though the resort remains fully operational for now.
Disney’s Official Statement In its statement, Walt Disney World emphasized that the safety of both guests and cast members is a top priority.
The statement reads:
“Walt Disney World Resort is currently operating under normal conditions. We are closely monitoring the path of the projected storm as we continue to prioritize the safety of our Guests and Cast Members.”
Milton has just strengthened into a Category 1 Hurricane, with max sustained winds of 80 mph. Milton is still forecast to intensify into a major hurricane early this week and remain a major hurricane as it approaches the west coast of Florida midweek.
While Walt Disney World Resort continues normal operations, guests are advised to stay informed, as conditions could change rapidly depending on the storm’s path. The resort has already restricted theme park reservations for Wednesday, signaling that precautionary measures are being implemented ahead of the storm’s potential impact.
Hurricane Milton is moving east-southeast at 6 mph, according to the National Hurricane Center. With sustained winds expected to exceed 115 mph, Central Florida, including the Walt Disney World area, could face heavy rainfall, strong winds, and potential flooding when the storm makes landfall.
Disney World Park Pass Reservations Blocked for October 9 as Tropical Storm Milton Approaches
Walt Disney World has taken another precautionary measure in anticipation of Tropical Storm / Hurricane Milton, suspending park reservations for Wednesday, October 9th, the day the storm is projected to make landfall in Florida. This follows the resort’s earlier decision to pause hotel reservations for October 8th through 10th.
While the storm’s track has shifted slightly southward, it still poses a significant threat to the Orlando area, including Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort. Both theme parks remain open at this time, but Disney’s decision to block park reservations for Wednesday suggests they are preparing for potential operational impacts.
Orange County, where both resorts are located, is currently under a State of Emergency declared by Governor Ron DeSantis. This declaration enables the mobilization of resources to support local communities in preparation and recovery efforts.
Monitoring the Situation
As Hurricane Milton continues to develop, residents and visitors are urged to stay informed about its trajectory and potential impact. We will continue to provide updates on the storm’s progress and any operational adjustments announced by Walt Disney World or Universal Orlando.

Exciting updates have been made to the single rider line for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The single rider option, which began testing again on September 20, no longer bypasses key pre-show moments, allowing guests to fully experience the immersive story line of the attraction.
Previously, single riders missed out on the pre-show with Rey and BB-8, as well as the ride aboard the Intersystem Transport Ship (I-TS). Instead, they were sent directly to the Star Destroyer hangar. Now, with the latest changes, the single rider line merges with the main queue just before the briefing with Rey, meaning single riders no longer miss any part of the experience.
The single rider line debuted back in July but was paused after only a month. The current version of the single rider option is still in testing, with no final decision on its permanence. While the Single Rider path has changed, the entry is still in the same location near the attraction exit. These updates are a welcome improvement, as they preserve the integrity of the attraction’s storyline while still offering a faster option for those riding solo.
Considering that the main ride vehicle seats eight guests—two rows of four—and 16 guests board two vehicles at a time from the “jail cell,” the single rider line has the potential to ensure all vehicles are filled to capacity, resulting in lower wait times for everyone throughout the day.
As Disney continues to refine this option, fans of Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will be pleased to see that the full experience remains intact while still benefiting from a more efficient boarding process. For now, we’ll have to wait and see whether the single rider line becomes a permanent addition, but these latest updates are a step in the right direction!
“Shut Up!” It’s Official: ‘The Princess Diaries 3’ is Happening!
Get ready to return to Genovia! Anne Hathaway delighted fans on Friday with an Instagram post confirming the long-awaited arrival of “The Princess Diaries 3.” The actress shared a playful video montage featuring iconic “Shut up!” moments from the first two films, culminating in her own joyful exclamation and a screenshot of a news report announcing the threequel.
“Miracles happen,” Hathaway captioned the post, adding “Back to Genovia” and “The fairy tale continues.” The news has sent millennials into a frenzy of nostalgia, eager to revisit the beloved franchise that captured hearts two decades ago.
While plot details remain under wraps, Disney has secured “Joy Ride” director Adele Lim to helm the project. Fans are hopeful that Julie Andrews will reprise her role as Queen Clarice Renaldi alongside Hathaway’s Mia Thermopolis.
“The Princess Diaries 3” isn’t the only sequel on Hathaway’s horizon. The Oscar-winner is also set to reunite with Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci in “The Devil Wears Prada 2.” This highly anticipated follow-up will reportedly focus on Miranda Priestly’s (Streep) struggle to maintain her fashion empire amidst a changing industry and a rivalry with her former assistant, Emily Charlton (Blunt).
With both “The Princess Diaries 3” and “The Devil Wears Prada 2” in the works, Hathaway is poised for a triumphant return to two roles that defined her early career and continue to resonate with audiences today.
Tropical Storm Milton Threatens Florida, Disney World Takes Precautions
Tropical Storm Milton is intensifying in the Gulf of Mexico and is now projected to become a major hurricane before reaching Florida this week. In response to this looming threat and the declared State of Emergency, Walt Disney World has taken the precautionary step of temporarily halting hotel reservations for October 8th through 10th.
While Disney hasn’t released an official statement regarding the storm, the unavailability of room bookings for those dates is a strong indicator of their preparations. This measure likely serves to ensure sufficient accommodations for Cast Members who will be essential for maintaining operations and guest services during the storm. These dedicated Cast Members, often referred to as a “ride-out crew,” stay on-site to manage the resort and provide support to guests who may also be riding out the storm.
Historically, when hurricanes have necessitated park closures, Disney World resorts have offered guests a variety of amenities and activities, particularly for children, to make their stay as comfortable as possible.
Storm’s Projected Path and Intensity
Tropical Storm Milton is anticipated to make landfall in Florida late Tuesday evening or Wednesday, potentially as a Category 2 or 3 hurricane. This poses a significant threat to the region, and residents and visitors are urged to monitor the situation closely.
Stay Informed
For the most up-to-date information on Tropical Storm Milton’s trajectory and potential impact, stay tuned to the National Weather Service and official Walt Disney World Resort channels. We will continue to provide updates on any operational adjustments as they are announced.
