Teen with health problems dies at Disney

At approximately 9:30 a.m. this morning, the Orange County Sheriff’s office was notified about the death of a 16-year old Canadian boy on vacation with his parents and one sibling. The family, staying at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort on Disney property, discovered that he was unresponsive this morning and contacted the Sheriff immediately. The Reedy Creek Rescue Center pronounced the boy dead at the scene.

Right now, the Sheriff’s office is conducting an investigation and believes the boy died as a result of an extensive medical history and related issues however, specific causes are not known at this time. He passed away in his sleep.

Our hearts and prayers are with him and his family.

A Downtown Disney restaurant is building a new bar and walk-up taco area that is set to open next month. Tortilla Joe’s began construction two weeks ago after it temporarily closed its outside taqueria window, said Eric Stenta, director of operations for Patina Restaurant Group, which runs the eatery.

In its place, guests for the first time will be able to order margaritas and beer in the walk-up area, which will continue to sell food. The burritos, tacos and nachos will be made to order in front of guests instead of behind a counter, Stenta said.
