“Inside Out 2” is here! Feel the joy (and maybe a little sadness) with a special, limited-time celebration at the Disneyland Resort.

“World of Color – ONE” Presented by PANDORA® Jewelry at Disney California Adventure Park Presents a Water Short in Celebration of Disney and Pixar’s “Inside Out 2”

For a limited time, a new water short, “Emotional Rollercoaster,” highlighting Pixar’s “Inside Out 2,” is being shown ahead of “World of Color – ONE” presented by PANDORA® Jewelry at Disney California Adventure Park. When the lights dim around Paradise Bay, guests see inside Riley’s head, showing memories of her experiencing Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust on mist screens. Animated projections, majestic fountains synchronized to music, dazzling lasers, and sparkling lighting are combined to introduce the new emotions, Anxiety, Envy, Embarrassment, and Ennui, and show how they must learn to live peacefully with the existing core emotions.

Anger Makes His Disney Parks Debut

Beginning yesterday, Anger from Pixar’s “Inside Out 2” will greet guests in Disney California Adventure Park at the Pixar Pier Band Shell. Kensington Tallman, who voices teenage Riley in the film, recently met up with Anger along with Joy and Sadness.

For a limited time during Pixar Fest, now through August 4, 2024, an “Inside Out 2” collectible medallion will be available at Bing Bong’s Sweet Stuff Medallion Machine in Disney California Adventure Park.

For a limited time, Pixar Place Hotel at the Disneyland Resort will display three maquettes of new Pixar’s “Inside Out 2” characters: Anxiety, Ennui, and Embarrassment, along with panels of artwork from the film on the second floor of the hotel.

Beginning yesterday, Disneyland Resort guests who purchase Disney Genie+ service can access a new experience from Disney PhotoPass Lenses featuring characters from “Inside Out 2” on the Disneyland app. With this lens, guests can get a glimpse inside the Headquarters control center and express their emotions with Joy, Anger, and Sadness.

This weekend, Pixar’s much-anticipated “Inside Out 2” has finally hit theaters, taking viewers back into the mind of Riley, now a thirteen-year-old navigating the complexities of adolescence. With new emotions like Anxiety, Ennui, Embarrassment, and Envy joining the original cast of Joy and Sadness, the film delves deeper into the emotional landscape of its young protagonist. Pete Docter, Chief Creative Officer of Pixar and director of the original film, shared insights into the creative process behind these new characters and why the film needs to be experienced on the big screen.

Pete Docter explained that the decision to create “Inside Out 2” stemmed from the lasting impact of the first film, which resonated deeply with audiences. Guests visiting Disney Springs will encounter some new construction walls near Raglan Road. The popular Irish eatery is adding a new permanent outdoor bar, Paddy’s Bar, located in front of the Shop for Ireland gift shop, and the work on the bar has officially started!

The new bar replaces the mobile bar that was located in the same spot and will feature six to eight seats with a limited drinks menu, including Irish draft beers, locally commissioned craft beers, and Irish cocktails. Named after the poet Patrick Kavanagh, Paddy’s Bar will serve only beverages, with food available at Raglan Road or Cookes of Dublin.

Last evening, the Chip and Co team had the extraordinary opportunity to witness a sneak preview of Universal Orlando Resort’s newest nighttime extravaganza, CineSational: A Symphonic Spectacular. Officially debuting tonight, June 14, this spectacular show transforms the waters of the Universal Studios Florida lagoon into a mesmerizing symphony of sights and sounds.

CineSational: A Symphonic Spectacular celebrates the emotional power of music, leveraging iconic scores and scenes from blockbuster films that have shaped Universal Orlando’s past, present, and future attractions. The show features unforgettable moments from Warner Bros. Pictures’ Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts films, Jurassic World, Jaws, Shrek, Ghostbusters, Trolls, Back to the Future, Universal Monsters, Transformers, How to Train Your Dragon, E.T., Fast and Furious, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Minions, The Mummy, and King Kong. This marks Universal’s first lagoon show since a hurricane in 2022 devastated the previous tech setup.

What makes CineSational truly awe-inspiring is its impressive blend of advanced technologies and special effects. The show features 228 fountains that soar up to 131 feet, incredible 4K projection mapping, an original score meticulously arranged for each scene, and more than 600 drones. Together, these elements create a breathtaking display of cinematic moments that envelop guests in a visual and audio feast.

Our first impressions of the show can be summed up in one word: masterpiece. Universal has seamlessly crafted a visual and auditory symphony that delights both the eyes and ears. The water projections are executed with remarkable precision and clarity, while the fireworks and drones add stunning visuals without being distracting. As an 80’s kid, the sense of nostalgia when both the ECTO 1 and Doc Brown’s Delorian zoom across the water hit me right in the feels! Since the drones provide some extra ambiance to the show and are not the centerpiece of the show itself, the show can still function even if weather conditions prevent the use of them.

Before the show, Mike Aiello, Senior Director of Entertainment Creative Development at Universal Destinations and Experiences, shared that CineSational focuses on the past, present, and future of what makes Universal, well, Universal. He couldn’t have been more accurate. The show beautifully weaves scenes from classic Universal Monsters films, 80s hits like Ghostbusters and Back to the Future, and modern favorites such as The Super Mario Bros. Movie. (And yes, I found myself humming the “Peaches” song all night after the show—thanks, Mike and team!)

Overall, CineSational: A Symphonic Spectacular is a must-see during your next trip to Universal Studios Florida. It’s a brilliant tribute to the movies that have defined generations and a testament to Universal’s ongoing commitment to pushing the boundaries of entertainment. Tonight, Universal’s Islands of Adventure will premiere its newest Hogwarts Castle projection show, “Hogwarts Always.” However, the Chip and Co team was fortunate to receive an exclusive sneak peek last evening, and we are thrilled to share our first impressions.

On select nights, guests visiting The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade will be treated to the nighttime extravaganza, “Hogwarts Always.” This incredible new projection show takes guests on a magical journey through iconic moments of a school year at Hogwarts, set against the majestic backdrop of Hogwarts Castle. The show brings to life enchanting scenes, from supply shopping in Diagon Alley and the exhilarating ride aboard the Hogwarts Express to participating in the Sorting Ceremony, celebrating the House Cup winner, and so much more. This visually stunning experience promises to captivate witches, wizards, and Muggles of all ages.

One of the highlights of “Hogwarts Always” is the inclusion of four different possible endings, each celebrating a different Hogwarts house. During our preview, we were delighted to see two versions of the show: one where Ravenclaw won the House Cup and another where Slytherin claimed victory. The unique house-specific endings add an exciting element of surprise for repeat visitors.

The show also features a colorful pyrotechnic display that adds an extra layer of magic to the evening. Fans will be thrilled to hear familiar dialogue from beloved characters like Professor Dumbledore, Hagrid, the Sorting Hat, and more throughout the show. These character cameos bring an added sense of nostalgia and connection to the Harry Potter universe.

Our review of “Hogwarts Always” is overwhelmingly positive. The show is a fantastic update to the projection experience in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade. It successfully blends the beloved lore of the Harry Potter series with stunning visuals and engaging storytelling. At just over 6 minutes in length, it is just long enough to cap off your evening at Islands of Adventure without being TOO long considering there is really no seating in the immediate area.

Whether you are a die-hard Harry Potter fan or someone not as familiar with the books and movies, “Hogwarts Always” is an experience you will enjoy and remember. Disney Casts Live-Action Moana as Filming Begins this Summer

Set sail with Catherine Lagaaia as Moana! The adventurous teenager embarks on a daring voyage across the seas in Disney’s live-action remake of Moana. Her mission: to save her people.

“I’m really excited to embrace this character because Moana is one of my favorites,” said the 17-year-old Sydney, Australia, native. “My grandfather comes from Fa‘aala, Palauli, in Savai‘i. And my grandmother is from Leulumoega Tuai on the main island of ‘Upolu in Samoa. I’m honored to have an opportunity to celebrate Samoa and all Pacific Island peoples, and to represent young girls who look like me.”

Moana’s journey is brought to life by a talented cast of Pacific Islanders! Catherine Lagaaia leads the way as Moana, alongside John Tui (Chief Tui), Frankie Adams (Sina), and Rena Owen (Gramma Tala). They’re joined by the returning Dwayne Johnson, reprising his role as the demigod Maui.

“Moana” will bring to life in a whole new way the story of a young woman eager to pave her own path. Celebrating the islands, communities and traditions of Pacific Islanders in a spectacular adventure, the production begins filming this summer. The new feature film is produced by Johnson, Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia via their Seven Bucks Productions and Beau Flynn via FlynnPictureCo. Lin-Manuel Miranda, who wrote the original songs, will also serve as producer.

Executive producers include Scott Sheldon of FlynnPictureCo., Auli‘i Cravalho, who voiced Moana in the 2016 film, and Charles Newirth. Jared Bush and Dana Ledoux Miller have been tapped for the project. Bush, a veteran of Disney Animation, wrote the screenplay for 2016’s “Moana,” and Miller is a Samoan writer who created Netflix’s “Thai Cave Rescue” and co-founded the non-profit Pasifika Entertainment Advancement Komiti (PEAK).
