Follow up to the story from earlier this year.

Robert Double Jr., 51, of Farmington, pleaded guilty last week in Orange County (Florida) Court to lewd and lascivious molestation and lewd and lascivious conduct against a minor.

Double was caught on Disney surveillance cameras trying to take off girls’ bikini tops while they were in the wave pool.

A 15-year-old girl reported to Disney security that Double crashed into her in the wave pool, pulled down her bathing suit, and then touched her. After reviewing surveillance video, detectives said he may have touched at least five different girls.

He was sentenced to five years of probation.

LAPD arrests Disney grandson for alleged illegal gun possession

Patrick Disney Miller, grandson of the late Walt Disney, was arrested early today on suspicion of illegal gun possession, police said.

Miller, 42, was taken into custody about 5:30 a.m. at his home in Woodland Hills, said Officer Karen Rayner of the Los Angeles Police Department.

“An LAPD gun unit was there to serve a search-and-arrest warrant,” Rayner said.

Miller was booked at the LAPD’s Valley jail in Van Nuys for investigation of possession of a firearm by a felon and selling ammunition or reloaded ammunition for a handgun. Miller is being held in lieu of $70,000 bail, Rayner said.

Disneyland’s Rivers of America set to be drained

Right after the holiday season, visitors to Disneyland will find a dry Rivers of America.

The river is scheduled to be drained beginning Jan. 4 and won’t be filled up again until May, according to officials with the theme park.

While the river is drained, many Disney fans would like to see something done to add some new life to the Rivers of America and the slow ride on the Mark Twain Riverboat and Sailing Ship Columbia, which some find a little boring.

“They’re only boring to the extent that much of the current view from the ships consists of very large trees and scenes that are old and static,” said Werner Weiss, curator of Yesterland.com.

Some of those scenes include a variety of wildlife statues, an Indian Village and the settler’s cabin.

The settler’s cabin has seen most of the changes. It used to be known as the “burning settler’s cabin.” The back story was that it was set afire by American Indians. At one time there was a dead settler in front of the cabin.

Disney to Curb Park Discounts as Economy Recovers

Walt Disney Co. expects to offer fewer discounts at U.S. theme parks in 2010 as the economy improves, according to Chief Executive Officer Robert Iger.

The world’s biggest theme-park operator has already reduced discounts from a year ago, Iger said today at a UBS AG investor conference in New York. Disney added promotions in November 2008 to attract visitors during the credit crunch.

“We will be able to continue to dial that back over the latter part of 2010,” Iger said, referring to discounts on hotel rooms, food and merchandise. “We are not making these commitments yet until we see the marketplace conditions.”

After previous recessions, Disney has scaled back the promotions, Iger said. Since last year, the company has offered free hotel nights and discounts on food and merchandise. The parks unit has reported four straight quarters of lower revenue and profit compared with year-ago periods.

Last month, Disney announced that Chief Financial Officer Tom Staggs and Jay Rasulo, head of the company’s parks, will swap positions in a move designed to bolster the experience of both executives. The switch takes effect at year end.

Disney, based in Burbank, California, rose 2 cents to $30.70 at 4:15 p.m. in New York Stock Exchange composite trading. The shares have gained 35 percent this year.

The next batch of fresh candy canes is set to be made Saturday, Dec. 12 at Disneyland.

Makers at the Candy Palace and Candy Kitchen on Main Street U.S.A. are scheduled to melt, stretch and mold more fresh candy canes this weekend. As we told you last week, guests can line up to get tickets and return later to buy them. Spectators can watch the process in the big windows along the kitchen.

The candy canes — about the length of a forearm — traditionally sell out at $9.95 each. Makers only sell candy canes about four to five times a holiday season, a tradition for about 35 years.

To find out the next date and what else is cooking at the Candy Kitchen, call 714-781-0112.

Today I have really exciting news; there is a brand new stage spectacular heading to the Disney Magic in 2010.

The show is called “Villains Tonight!” and it is the first full-scale musical production dedicated to the Disney villains. The show is a family-friendly comedy that places our famous evil-doers in some irreverent funny moments.

“Villains Tonight!” will premiere during the March 27 voyage aboard the Disney Magic and debut on the Disney Dream in early 2011.

Here is a first look at this new production:

Disney CEO Bob Iger indirectly addresses speculation about game industry acquistions

Even as the Walt Disney Co. moves to complete its $4-billion acquisition of comic-book giant Marvel Entertainment, Wall Street is wondering whether Chief Executive Bob Iger is shopping for bargains in the video-game aisle.

Formerly high-flying game publishers — such as Electronic Arts, creator of Madden football, and Take-Two Interactive, known for its Grand Theft Auto franchise — have seen their shares plunge 70% from recent highs. THQ, maker of the Warhammer series, is off 90%. That has fueled speculation on Wall Street that these entertainment companies could be vulnerable to a takeover — possibly by one of the Hollywood media conglomerates.

Iger was asked pointedly during today’s UBS 37th annual Global Media and Communications Conference whether he was contemplating any “sizable acquisitions” in the games space to round out its interactive unit.

“I’m not going to suggest that we’re making a business acquisition in that area,” Iger said.

That doesn’t mean Iger isn’t watching the interactive-media space. He noted the rise in what the industry calls “casual gaming” — that is, digital diversions that don’t require a commitment of hours to become proficient — at the expense of the high-profile and high-cost console business. As with other forms of entertainment, distribution is shifting online and away from packages sold in stores, he said.

Console games can still be lucrative, Iger said, if it’s the right title and done well. He offered by way of example the forthcoming Toy Story 3 game, based on the popular Pixar Animation films and developed in house.

But that doesn’t mean every title needs to be developed in house, Iger said. Disney needs to make sure it has games for every platform — the Nintendo Wii game console as well as smart phones.

“I’m suggesting this is a business that is varied in nature and has gotten broader, in terms of variety, than a number of people expected,” Iger said. “We need to make sure we are structured … to take advantage of all elements of the games business.”

Disney’s The Sorcerer’s Apprentice Trailer

In The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Balthazar Blake (Cage) is a master sorcerer in modern-day Manhattan trying to defend the city from his arch-nemesis, Maxim Horvath (Molina).

Balthazar can’t do it alone, so he recruits Dave Stutler (Baruchel), a seemingly average guy who demonstrates hidden potential, as his reluctant protégé.

The sorcerer gives his unwilling accomplice a crash course in the art and science of magic, and together, these unlikely partners work to stop the forces of darkness. It’ll take all the courage Dave can muster to survive his training, save the city and get the girl as he becomes “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.”

Movie is set to release July 16th 2010. Click here for the Official Website.

I also found this article from MTV that talks a little bit more about the movie.

Watch Disney Prep & Landing Here

In case you missed it last night I have Disney’s Prep & Landing stream here.

Disney’s Plan To Create Jobs

The Walt Disney Co.’s Bob Iger has a strategy for saving jobs in America: lower the corporate tax rate.

That was part of Iger’s message last week at President Obama’s jobs summit, and the CEO reemphasized his point during Tuesday’s Mad Money, which was the second installment of the show’s Invest in America Week.

The US has “among the highest, if not the highest,” corporate tax rate in the world, Iger told Cramer. And that makes countries with lower rates more attractive to businesses – even one as iconically American as Disney . Iger admitted that, though the company’s goal is to do “most of our business here,” there are “opportunities” to move jobs offshore to capitalize on the tax differential.

“So if America is interested in keeping jobs here or in creating jobs,” Iger said, “we suggest that it’s certainly something that needs to be looked at.”

Disney seems to be doing its part to create jobs. Watch the video for Cramer’s full interview with CEO Iger and a list of the company’s employment-producing projects across the US, and across the globe.
