Article from the reel loop:

If you’re wondering which films comic book maven Stan Lee would like to see made into a big budget Hollywood feature, you’re in luck. The co-creator of Spider-man and the Fantastic Four has announced that beyond a Dr. Strange film, he added a few more characters to the mix.“Doctor Strange I’m sure will be out,” says Lee. “You probably know they’re working on Ant-Man now. If they ever want to do a war story, we have Sgt Fury. We already have Colonel Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D. who pops up in so many of these. In fact, there might one day be a S.H.I.E.L.D. movie.”

A movie adaptation of Ant-Man was been in a holding pattern for some time.

Mr. Pricklepants joins the Toy Story 3 cast

Disney has released a new TOY STORY 3 featurette that introduces a new character called Mr. Pricklepants, an uptight hedgehog voiced by actor Timothy Dalton.

The creators of the beloved “Toy Story” films re-open the toy box and bring moviegoers back to the delightful world of our favorite gang of toy characters in Toy Story 3.

As Andy prepares to depart for college, Buzz, Woody and the rest of his loyal toys are troubled about their uncertain future. Directed by Lee Unkrich (co-director of “Toy Story 2” and “Finding Nemo”), Toy Story 3 is a comical new adventure in Disney Digital 3D(TM) that lands the toys in a room full untamed tots who can’t wait to get their sticky little fingers on these “new” toys.

It’s pandemonium as they try to stay together, ensuring “no toy gets left behind.” Meanwhile, Barbie comes face to plastic face with Ken (yes, that Ken). Pixar veteran Darla K. Anderson (“Cars,” “Monsters, Inc.”) produces, while Michael Arndt, Academy Award(R)-winning screenwriter of “Little Miss Sunshine,” brings his unique talents and comedic sensibilities.

TOY STORY 3 opens in 3D and IMAX 3D and conventional theaters June 18, 2010.

‘Give a Day, Get a Disney Day’ Web Site Update

giveaday

From the Disney Park Blog:

Thanks to the generous spirit of our guests, we have had a strong response to our ‘Give a Day, Get a Disney Day’ program.

We prepared for this launch based on similar programs in the past. However, the large numbers of guests attempting to register for volunteer service in the program has created periodic slowdowns in the network, resulting in difficulty in completing the registration process.

We apologize for the inconvenience and want to let you know that we’re working to add capacity to the system to provide a better registration experience.

Be assured that new volunteer opportunities are being added to the HandsOn Network daily, and we will not hit the 1 million ticket milestone this weekend. So keep checking back to see what new volunteer opportunities have been added — and thanks for your interest in the ‘Give a Day, Get a Disney Day’ program. Here are more details and terms concerning the program.

Cinderella Castle at Disneyworld falls into Foreclosure

Cinderella_castle

Article is from WDW Magic:

The refurbishment will begin on January 3 2010, beginning with draining the moat. Around January 12 2010, a construction wall scrim of around 25ft tall will be put in place (the scrim will be similar to this). The work should be done around March 25 2010, although as always, dates are subject to change. The castle will remain open and in-use as usual for the duration of the work.

In other words if you are at DisneyWorld between Jan 12th and March 25th those beautiful castle pictures u wanted to take…Well lets just say I would invest in Photoshop before you go..

As soon as the construction begins I will have some photos up. Man that spoils my Jan 23rd vacation….

Great article about Disney’s relationship with Stan Lee over at Gaming Angels.

That relationship must be doing well because POW! Entertainment has announced that they will be creating a closer relationship to the Walt Disney Company.

“Enhancing our relationship with one of the world’s most creative and innovative entertainment companies makes perfect sense given all the exciting projects we have underway,” said Lee, Chairman and Chief Creative Officer of POW! “Disney has been a great partner for us and we look forward to working closely with them in the coming years. In addition to the huge creative opportunity this affords POW!, it also provides for the next positive stage in the expansion of the company itself.”

Tom Sawyer Island at Disneyland changes name to Lost Island

lost

Ok so the name hasn’t been changed yet but that would be so cool if it was! This is a 2 for 1 article for all you Lost Fans!

First Article is from Kristy Stevenson she is the Lost Examiner:

Finally, a brilliant idea on how to make LOST live on after the end of Season 6. Darlton said it, themselves (actually, this is a Carlton Cuse quote, but you get the idea):

LOST is a powerful franchise, and Disney (the parent-company of ABC) would be crazy not to continue it in some way.

The writers have confirmed that they will not be involved once their story is finished, and Darlton has said more than once that they will not take the path of Twin Peaks and the X-Files and create a LOST movie.

So where do fans go from here? To create a huge buzz for a LOST-themed Disney attraction, of course!

Here is newest article I found from Jodi Jill over at the Examiner.

Disneyland is a place of fun, joy and a chance to see Mickey Mouse, Goofy, and even Donald Duck. Except if you are a fan of the ABC show ‘Lost’. According to several websites, and in particular twitter.com where even yesterday, December 30, there is a push to sign a petition to put pressure on the Walt Disney Corporation to chance the Tom Sawyer Island into a ‘Lost’ museum.

This is a really awful idea and Disney fans need to know this idea is getting a lot of play in the media even though, right now, it is nothing more than a petition.

‘Sign the pet. for Lost at Disney B4 we mail it on 23rd! We think Sawyer island to be great place to enjoy show’

Disneyland gets so packed on New Years Eve that the company is trying to entice visitors to celebrate at Disney’s California Adventure instead tonight.

Today only, Disney’s California Adventure visitors are getting free passes that can be used at Disneyland later in January.

This is the first time that Disney has made such an offer for New Years Eve, said Lisa Haines, a Disneyland Resort spokeswoman.

Haines said that Disneyland is an “incredibly popular place to be on New Years,” so the company wanted to extend the option for guests to celebrate at the less-busy park.

New Disney Channel Show – Good Luck Charlie

bridget-mendler

Disney is trying something different with “Good Luck Charlie,” a show it hopes will reach across generations in the same way that NBC’s “The Cosby Show” and ABC’s “The Wonder Years” once did. In seeking out this older demographic, however, the network faces a dilemma: Can it craft a comedy sophisticated enough — and realistic enough — to appeal to adults without alienating its core viewers, who, after all, come to Disney to avoid racier programming?

“What ‘Good Luck Charlie’ represents is an evolutionary step to really put the family into our kid-driven family brand,” said Gary Marsh, Disney Channel’s entertainment president. “Do I think this will be a first choice for 35- to 40-year-old moms? Not necessarily . . . . But if we do our jobs properly and we create the authenticity we’re talking about, it will allow us to tackle stories in a more grounded way that will be more appealing to parents than other shows we’ve done before.”

Disney Channel’s attempt to capitalize on the timeless appeal of the family sitcom in hopes of luring children and adults reflects a larger industrywide return to more inclusive comedies — such as ABC’s “Modern Family,” CBS’ “The Big Bang Theory” and Fox’s high school-centered musical comedy “Glee.”

Walt Disney’s grandson pleaded not guilty today to 19 felony counts involving illegal possession of drugs and weapons and was taken into custody.

Patrick Disney Miller, 42, was taken into custody about 5:30 a.m. at his home in Woodland Hills earlier this month after the Los Angeles Police Department executed a search warrant.

Miller was booked at the LAPD’s jail in Van Nuys for investigation of possession of a firearm by a felon and selling ammunition or reloaded ammunition for a handgun.

Los Angeles County prosecutors added additional counts when they charged him

Neither he nor his attorney could be reached for comment. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Van Nuys Superior Court.
